I had this dilemma. Answer: Aqualisa Quartz Digital. It is a pumped power shower, runs off a normal electrical feed (i.e. not 40A or whatever) and pumps the hot and cold water from the tanks. The "box" goes in the loft, and the water feeds down the riser rail, through the ceiling. i.e. no cocking about trying to hide all the pipes behind the wall.

We had one fitted recently, about £400 for the shower, £200 to fit. Bloody lovely.
He hasn't got any tanks to pump from though.

He has 2 options:

Electric Shower
Mixer shower from his combi
IIRC the Aqualisa Quartz Digital also has a non-pumped version... that might do it? And yes, it so lovely and clever that pretty much all other showers are rendered obsolete (IMHO!)

I recently had a new shower plumbed in, the plumber was a German guy, usual efficient hard working type (aren't they all) anyway he went and connected my gas main to the water feed for the shower!

I guess old habits die hard.

Labour price would allow for 5 man days at a tadesman rate inc overheads. Now, if there's the plumber and his mate and they spend two days on site that's three man days (based on a trade rate) That leaves 2 man days for electric and making good.

Having not seen the place or got a full list of what's required then I couldn't say whether this is reasonable amount of time. I can reasonably see a shower install taking this time. I can also see it taking alot less and a lot more.

I assume that the plumber is going to oversee a complete job including all the making good.
