At least he built a wall round it to keep the visitors away wink

A baby ('boudoir'?) grand will fit into most houses - it just goes where the dining table was supposed to go and you eat off your lap instead smile

hehe See the problem with that. While you can have foldaway dining tables you can't have foldaway grand pianos.

  • Sorry I never got round to getting rid of the fireplace
  • Sorry I never got round to getting rid of the 32" CRT (however, i'm pretty happy having a 42" plasma in the bedroom hehe)
House move pending, so will never get done now.

personally, i like clean lines, things like sky box etc out of view and a minimalistic look.

my wife on the other hand, would have pictures of anyone on every inch of the sodding wall, stupid arse statues of anything balanced on any ledge window sill or free are of tv stand going lol
We're the same.

We have photographs of the children everywhere - I mean - it's not as though I don't know what they look like rolleyes

I try my best to restrain her.

Here's my (hopefully) new living room.

Small, but perfectly formed (that's what I always tell her), I just hope the plasma fits.

I note the lack of mantlepiece so she can't stick loads of photos all over the place. hehe

Very nice! Looks like a good man/woman compromise going on there. You can tell by the minimalism and lack of clutter that there has been the restraining influence of a man...but the woman has put her foot down and demanded the pictures of children and the flowers. Now all that room needs to top it off is a beer fridge and plasma...

Just noticed that it does look kind of weird from that picture.hehe

But, the piano is on a different level which is a couple of feet higher than the other section....you'd just fall off the edge were the wall not there!

I think I've taken after my parents with the whole lack of clutter look. This is my room at uni which is the closest thing I have to a living room...suffice to say it's a lot less cluttered than most:

Computer, speakers, beer fridge, bed. Sorted.

Ours is still a work in progress....

Started work on it when we moved in nearly two years ago! The end is in sight though - I've finished fitting the skirting boards, just going around filling the holes/doing the final prep ready for painting next weekend. Then the new carpet can be ordered!

Got to do all the woodwork in the kitchen, lounge, up the stairs and the landing!

Since had a new door with glass panels fitted between the kitchen and lounge.

Home made AV rack:

All the cabling runs through the wall and along to under the stairs, rear surround cables are run through the ceiling and there are two speakers in the kitchen ceiling also running from the amp.

This is what it looked like when we first moved in:

Skirting boards are a real pain and very boring to fit! zzz

Can't wait to get it finished - I reckon by the end of the month it should be done (although I am considering repainting all the walls.

Yep, I figured it out smile If it was my living room I think I'd have gone for a fully split-level idea with steps right across.

Regerttably I can't play the piano (apart from a bit of party-showoff boogie-woogie) so I'd need a pianola frown

It was a reply to a previous post. A suggestion as to how he ought to design his room.

Oh, you poor people. We don't have a living room, according to the estate agent details when we bought it was referred to as a drawing room, with plenty of room for a baby grand.

The room currently my study will be changed into a sitting room later this year. I've got to replace the ceiling (crumbling lath and plaster), get the walls replastered and get oak flooring laid. Then we can decorate.

That's a great looking chest. We're looking to swap our coffee table for a chest of some description, that would match up nicely with our furniture. I'll be round in the morning.beer

Very nice. Is that a little family of turned Banksia nut mushrooms I see in your hearth? I knock quite a few things out of those - very versatile little things they are.
