I have a set of plans here, which show a new cavity wall tray 15 metres in length. No problem. But it's to be retrofitted to an existing wall
I think on even a mildly exposed site , the building inspector would be negligent on not requiring it .
Build an extension against an existing cavity wall and that is what will appear on all of my drawings , it is the correct thing to do . You can buy trays for just that situation too .
Time to do it is fine. Cost of labour is another issue

when there's actually a masonry internal wall within 12" of proposed beam position.
If I had a sharp pencil and some big paper, I'd do it myself
BCO didn't bat an eyelid when builder suggested no steel and an extra 12" of joists.
There is an argument that the architect is covering all bases by assuming founds won't take any extra weight, but there were already an existing set of joists sat on the wall, all we were doing was fitting newer deeper joists (and actually reducing load on the internal walls due to a steel ridge beam suitable for spanning the Mersey - drawn on the same set of drawings - taking a lot of the roof loads from purlins/internal walls and loading the gable walls instead).
Same with everything - find a good guy and you're sorted.
