A landing net (fish) trawled over the area might provide a result.
I thought of a swimming pool net, the triangular kind, so it scrapes the bottom better. However I think the problem with trawling is that the net could very easily skip over the camera and fail to scoop it up, especially if the bottom is irregular.mgtony said:
One of these on a stick to locate it, then a hook or magnet on a stick to retrieve it,

I like that! But I can get a new camera for about the same price. Mind you if I keep dropping cameras in the river then it will pay for itself http://www.naturewatchuk.co.uk/mall/productpage.cf...

What are you doing today, I've got the day off and I'll jump in for you mate
Best of all! YHM, and a pub lunch to help warm you up afterwards Your'e not a gonna leica dis Simpo but the river flows and there may be the possibillity that your camera may have moved a bit. If a search does not locate immediately then don't forget to look downstream a little. I expect your 'gutted' but I am sure you could find some old trout to look for it!

It's also closer to 9' deep so i'm going to have to go back with a wetsuit and snorkel.

Hat off to you - you wouldn't get me in there!
I think i would phone the Police from the nearest payphone, put on a deep voice with a hint of Russian accent, and tell them you heard a gunshot followed by a few screams, then saw somebody throw what looked like a GUN into the River. Sit back on the bank and let them retrieve it for you. Bob's ya Uncle, Fanny's yer Aunt
post on www.yorkshire-divers.co.uk someone will help. I would but am too far from you.
