It's the original Star Trek communicator. They've managed to make them a bit smaller since the MkI.

Which reminds me, I must replace the covering on mine. The felt's leaking like an incontinent aunty's knickers so I'd better get on to it. I had a link to a company selling some kind of sheeting and resin which hopefully lasts longer than felt but lost it. Off to Google.....
Wickes' say their 2layer self-adhesive felt has a life of about 20 years. My summerhouse (pent roof) has done one year so far - I'll get back to you when I replace it wink

Costs a bomb though.

It looks like it has been attacked by a a giant metallic sting ray. Maybe Steve Irwin is inside.

Can't remember the name but seen it at roofing merchants, pink paint on gloop then, White mesh then grey paint on gloop. LookS good for flat roof with lots of pipework vent etc in but it ain't cheap and can't see the point on sloping roof and gloop gonna run.

Best to use a 2-3 layer torch on roofing felt as it's gonna last years and years especially on a sloping roof. Should get 15yrs plus, and a lot harder wearing than standard shed felt!!
