Octopus energy company. Anyone use 'em?
Discussion
At least you can call or email. Scottish Power make it more than clear that your call is not wanted if you're a regular customer, only calls from special customers are allowed. There is no email contact. You have to use chat and each response takes about 30 minutes. Just exchanging a few sentences took me several hours. I will be moving to Octopus when the current SP screw up is resolved.
I've just worked what my actual monthly average amounts and cost estimates...
Octopus Flexible would be £185pcm
Octopus Tracker only would be £114pcm
Octopus Tracker plus solar plus battery is £65 (21 years v Tracker, 10 years v Flexible)
My conclusion is if you can't get on Tracker, it's worth your while investigating getting solar and a battery. If you can get on Tracker, save the expense of solar and a battery.

Have you compared Agile? It's the cheapest for me and doesn't require a six month waiting list. Octopus Flexible would be £185pcm

You know what's most annoying about Agile? They publish tomorrow's rates at 4pm, which is always the time of day when the prices for that day are going up for peak period. Why is this annoying? Well, the cheapest periods always seem to be 12-4pm, and 12-5am. But often the overnight rate is higher than the 12-4pm rate was the previous day. So, if I've got a load of washing to do I either want to do it in the afternoons or over night. And I don't know if the next night's rates are going to be lower than this afternoon's low rates until the low afternoon rates have disappeared.
A minor point, but an annoyance nonetheless.

If this helps look at https://www.carbonintensity.org.uk/A minor point, but an annoyance nonetheless.
This predicts the next 72hours, so the lower the number the cheaper Agile will be that day.
Tomorrow looks to be a cracker.

Yesterday I saw some slots starting with a 13, today I'm seeing some starting with a 12 (pence per kwh). That's the lowest I've seen yet. I think I'm miles ahead so far compared to the standard variable and Go rates which they offered me a month ago. Well happy. Will be happier when the prices fall further of course.
