Anyone else considering getting the sprinkler out?
No, there's rain coming next week so I'll wait until then. I will also get some seed down in advance of the rain, probably Monday morning. I've got a molehill that I have flattened to reseed and some shady areas need overseeding. Even after a very thorough scarification, reseed etc. in Autumn there are still slightly bare patches in my lawn.
Think I'll give up trying to be too fussy with it, the hidden thatch is that much that I'd need to start from scratch if I wanted it really good.
To illustrate, after the very hard scarification, the surface was still quite spongey. It's like a layer of thatch actually part of the soil.

The temperatures look quite promising for the next week so we decided to scarify; our lawn normally looks good in the summer but needs scarifying every year - the added problem this year has been our new Vizsla puppy...I've created an area in the border with woodchip and he is going to undergo some pretty intensive toilet training over the coming days....

Three bulk bags of thatch later....

We have a Vizsla too, and we managed to train him to go at the end of the garden. Quite funny when you are playing with him outside and he suddenly belts off for a pee! Saves the lawn too, as your pictures show![](https://thumbsnap.com/sc/dfZiR91M.jpg)

Stolen from the Zombie Covid thread these are pics of my two largest lawns I took yesterday.

I have just applied 4-in-1.
Thought it would be an idea to post them here then take pics from the same vantage point in a couple of weeks, after I scarify the moss out. see how much greener (or balder) they look!

Any training tips would be gratefully received...! ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
So we went back to basics, and every time he was allowed out to do his business the put a lead on and led him to the end of the garden, then gave treats and praise when he did it.
After a while we stopped the lead but still went with him, then gradually reduced the distance we accompanied him for (but still giving treats when he came back). Eventually even that wasn’t necessary, he was so happy to do something right and show us he could do it
It only took about 2 weeks, if I remember correctly
I had great plans to re-seed the area of the garden used by my boys to play football. The seed was delivered prior to Coronna virus, and I was planning to 'ban' them from playing on it until the seed had become establised.
However, with them at home 7 days a week, no chance of that.
I assume I should wait until September and try then? Or can it establish with a certain amount of footfall (if I can arrange it)....

Thought it might be a bit soon for scarifying, but bottom lawn definitely needs it, no moss but plenty of thatch after the dry stress last year (I was never going to water it).
Front lawn has been left a bit wild (except for dandelions), it's not long but I dug a load of primrose out and placed in the border. I'll let the bees have their fill then it'll get heavy scarifying and reseeding with wet shady lawn seed.
Unfortunately, lawnsmith shop went offline whilst I had stuff in the basket!

I’ve now put all my seeds down, trying to water them twice a day (as well as our usual rain).
I’ve stamped them down a few times and chased as many birds away as possible!
How long does it take for anything to happen?
They just look like they’re all sitting there doing nothing.
I went with the lawnsmith classic seed.

Well a year to the day and I think the turf held up ok. I had it cordoned off for almost the entire year which has helped as dog uses hard standing for loo now rather than the grass. There are a couple of thin patches where leather jackets have killed it off. I’ve reseeded and watering daily now so soon back to full health I hope.
