Have you put your heating on yet?
Discussion
Put it on a couple of weeks ago. We were coming back from Napoli (italy) where it was 35c most days. Its about 10c here today so the heating is on auto until about april.
The boiler is 14 months old so is pretty efficient. We replaced the boiler a year past july when the engineers were quiet.

My new build is pretty airtight with lots of glass, turned the heating off in March and it hasn't been on since. Despite a wet and murky day today the house is currently 23c in most rooms, though I know Mrs Blue will be hinting soon enough. I want to see if we can hold out until the clocks go back, when I guess reduced daylight hours will mean a cooler house.
for those who sometimes put up using an electric heater.. what kind do you prefer??
fan heater?
convector heater?
oil heater?
halogen heater?
ceramic heater?
I have used fan, convection, and halogen. i have to say fan and halogen are more of an instant heat that dissipates fast. convector ones seem to most mimic a normal radiator, whilst they may be very passive, and take time.. they dont make noise and the heat tends to linger better. I have never used oil ever.. so ive no idea how that compares.

Isn't it the best one? Doesn't take ages to heat up and keeps the heat topped up. Plus they are cheap and all come with timers too. Safe around kids too as no different from a standard radiator.(only thing you can't do is block the vents!)I have always used oil as temp solutions.

Is it just me who puts the heating on for half an hour at the beginning of September to check it's going to work OK when I (and everyone else in my area) needs it in October? If it goes wrong I want to call the engineer when he's got no work on.
I never switch it off.It only kicks in when it is cold enough anyway.
