I would just get on and put some iron on the lawn. As long as its not an extended hot and dry period it shouldn't harm the grass.
I use it at various strengths throughout most of the year as a moss preventative and lawn tonic and it does the job.
I wouldn't use it on new seed, I think it takes a few weeks for new grass to be able to take up the iron.

From the photos at the beginning of the weekend to this!!
As we had the rain forecast, yesterday was spent power raking and collecting the thatch, then fertilised and over seeded followed by a top dressing of compost. Rain last night and so far this morning it's not stopped, so its all getting a good watering in.

Today I have been mostly admiring the daffs in my lawn.
Moss is mostly dead from the iron sulphate a week or so ago. Debating scarification, or laziness if just letting the grass have a chance now that it's competitor is dead. Threw remaining autumn fertiliser over the lawn as it has iron sulphate in and it's what I had to hand. Also due to the spring bulbs, I don't really need to do any big mowing until late spring. So more root strengthening over top growth is fine by me for a while.
Weedol did not work on buttercups, I suspect as it was rained off. Re-application is due. Removed a few mechanically and lost the will to live, so gave up. Spent the day fertilizing and mulching our many roses instead, plus some weeding/tidying of beds.

...and that will explain why the weedkiller hasn't worked. Every day's a school day.

My seed put down 2 weeks ago hasn't really taken, not much new growth out there? Impatience on my part? Considering seeding again.
Too cold I'd say.I do have some new seeded areas coming up but I seeded those a few of weeks ago when we had a week of warm weather.
