Evva makes some of the world’s best locks. Provided you’ve got the 3-star version of the Evva ICS, it will be miles better than an Avocet.
Yes, 3 star.

Found a few more bits on the floor... didn't realise how much stuff a lock contains! And that's just out of one side of the lock.

What defines the best lock?

If you want to put it back together the Lock Picking Lawyer will show you how (just kidding):

(Note the video is from 2016 so things have moved on)

Any views on Federal Ironguard? (3 star)

The Federal Ironguard looks good. Both the Avocet ABS and Ultion are manufactured by Federal.

For similar money, however, I prefer the Mul-T-Lock Breaksecure 3DS.

Thanks.
Local proper DIY can get the Federal hence the ask. Rather put my money in the local stuff. Found it credited on the Sold Secure site now, quite a handy 2019 list on there as well.
https://www.soldsecure.com/news/ In the catalogue list and

OT a tad, and then some handy bike locks in that list that look nifty.

PITA
I ordered Yale platinum door handle set
whilst waiting on flat purchase completion,
went over this PM to find existing door handle has 200mm fixing screw distances rather than the common 215mm
I am struggling to locate a secure handle set to go along with Multi Lock XP Euro Cylinder I have chosen.

anyone else had a similar issue and found a decent secure handle set ?

MILA was a site I came across looking for my locks. Their web site has quite a selection, not sure if it is any use.

That chain isn't going to last long when hitting hidden metal like that tongue out
Also that door doesn't put up much of a fight, a high quality Rockdoor or similar will take a lot longer to get through (see youtube!).

I doubt it. The forced entry specialists already know everything they need to know to get into a Rockdoor. That's not to say your common criminal is going to be walking around with an adapted chainsaw, but that there's always a way in.

Rockdoors are so tough that we started getting enquiries from the emergency services asking how to get through one, so a training course was planned to demonstrate which industrial strengthen power tools were needed.

The rest is a trade secret, but rest assured, burglars can’t force open a Rockdoor composite door.

Yes, but that's what I was alluding to in my post.

There's videos online of people taking chainsaws to Rockdoors, and they are far more resistant than the video posted on the previous page.

Does anybody use an Avocet lock with their garden gate? I need to replace ours and I'd like to fit a euro cylinder-style lock so I can extend my keyed-alike Avocet keys to it.

I did this at our old house. Had the back door, patio doors and gate all keyed alike with avocet keys.

Has anyone any experience of the DOM ix TwinStar lock? That said I am struggling to find anyone that can supply locally, although on paper it looks (expensive!?) like a good lock. Thanks

Are Evva ICS still the way to go, I'm not really sure on the difference between Evva models TBH? I've got three euro cylinders to change so budget is largely inconsequential; I looked at Abloy but they're only available in odd sizes that don't fit my doors.

Was up to date on this thread last year, then got distracted and never changed anything. With xmas coming up need to get this sorted and have 2 1* locks to change. What’s the current go-to? < £100 ideally. Where to people tend to buy from?

Much appreciated.

Hi,
Going through the entire forum, there is hardly any mention of the Abloy Protec 2. Isn't that one of the best eurocylinder locks on the market? Your thoughts please!

REF ABS LOCKS

the answer to your question is NO.

They are a cheap copy of Mul-t-Lock Interactive made in the federal factory in the far east.........

Ghastly Lock..ghastly company.... go by a break secure BSXP euro or something...just not that..or a brisant as they are made in the same factory

rant over

Are you confusing Avocet branded ABS cylinders with some random ABS brand?

I'm just about to order some keyed alike Ultion locks.

My Rockdoors come with cylinder guards. Is there any issue leaving these fitted with the anti-snap Ultion locks? I know the Ultion is designed to snap, but it feels a lot less secure when it's not in the cylinder guard.

With cylinder guard.

Without.
