More to the point, how long will it take to fall into the sea? biggrin
Those are built on solid roach, that’s why it’s a headland, as described. More chance of it becoming a cut off mini island than it being washed away by the sea.

Headlands. Durable as fek, and become headlands because the surrounding land gets washed away.

Cornwall for me please. Less crowded-in and very much better weather.

Stunning location and views, but wouldn't want to live with the low ceilings.

From the garage thread - https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop...

The house/decor is a bit dated, but that garage...!

Not a good location vs the airport unless you're a plane spotter.

And less full of welsh and northerners on their holidays.

But very full in summer. Friends went down in late July and talked about being stuck in their car for hours several days, gave up trying to sightsee altogether as they were wasting their time.

Ceiling do look low.....

Today’s North East ‘Gem’

Dower House, Shibdon Road, Blaydon-on-Tyne, Tyne and Wear
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Close to the A1, backing onto a housing estate, opposite a hospital. Hasn’t been decorated in 30 years and looks like an old care home biggrin

However, nice grounds, just needs a lot of money spent on it.

In a similar vein, I seem to have a compulsion to rescue this 'arts and crafts' house from its timewarp. There's an amazing house here with an acre of garden. I don't know York, so no idea whether Acomb is a good or bad area of it, although its on the west side of the city...?

1cm from a road - google street map helpfully has a lorry blocking the view in one picture, with 3 other cars, so hardly a quiet country lane. I'm oot for that one.

Needs a bit of work (and finishing) but I could content myself with the setting
That is wonderful.
yes magnificent
If I never needed to work again (and had a decent 7-figure wedge in the bank obviously) I would be looking for somewhere just like that.
It even has an adequate broadband connection.
Thread winner there. That is just fantastic.

Fantastic part of the world too.
£1.2m for that is just insane.
£3/m2 - given I hate neighbours, I'd love that.

Minor issue of the slightly damp weather for 360 days a year....

Acomb has, should we say, a bit of a reputation as not the most desirable part of York. Plus, whilst the interior has a few nice A&C features the exterior isn’t that special (with exception of the main entrance). Plastic windows don’t help either.

Nor me. Architecturally is a mess of styles. The garage is nice though
Do you only get the house on the right? Or both, or is the garage shared?

Not a bad spot overall. Not the best bit of York, but there are a couple of larger houses behind the main row of houses on that street, this being one of them.

Look at the satellite view on the map to get an idea. Ask yourself if that big green field is going to stay green indefinitely... I think it will, others think it will become houses sometime.

850 is a fairly full price imo. Any money spent on renovating might not create much value from that start point

But it could be made into a very nice place to live.

The field doesn’t appear to be allocated for housing in the emerging York Local Plan but the Plan still has a long way to go to formal adoption (it’s at the independent examination stage) and the land doesn’t appear to be safeguarded from development (eg nature conservation, strategic buffer). If it doesn’t go for housing in the current LP period (once adopted) I’d be surprised it it doesn’t come forward during a future review.
