It's a beautiful house, with no outside space to speak of, in a shocking location in terms of noise and privacy. As opposed to the house where I live which is an absolute carbuncle but has great grounds and is in a magnificent location in terms of peace, quiet and accessibility. It's about the same value as this one, in the same area (well, within 5 miles), and I would not trade mine for this one if you chucked in a gallon of baby oil, 1kg of Columbian marching powder and a Bank Holiday weekend in Barbados with Halle Berry. Or Scarlett Johansson. Or whoever does it for you.

Making it too difficult, if you chucked in Scarlett then on balance.....

Appologies if this has already been posted at some point.

Sqaure house, triangle rooms and stairs everywhere...and one to many roofs! Only £5000 pcm rent.

Showing as sold here: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop... I assume it could only be sold to knock down and build a mega Cheshire mansion...
That’s giving me a headache! Its as if Dali did houses
I think the builder must have just bought a new mitre saw...
Stairs everywhere- looks like an MC Escher print...

I'm not sure what style this is supposed to be!

It has the worst bannister I've ever seen! I mean the one thing a bannister has to do is allow you to slide your hand down it the whole way whilst descending! fking stupid "designers" Plus it looks ste! laugh

The floorplan shows that the "family room" is the smallest room downstairs. In fact the whole layout is pish! The "games room" is bigger than all the bedrooms! What the hell is going on with Bedroom 3 that opens into a stairwell!

Oh and it's OVER £5Million! For a complete mess of a place! Jokers!

This one is a bit small, but it's a great location, 4 beds and a mere £1.6M in SW1

But it's a leasehold! I dread to think what the ground rent and maintenance charges are!

I know the road it's on and, whilst I am no expert on planning, I'd be amazed if something modern would be allowed to be built there.

Rename 'family room' to 'snug'.
Games room is large so you can get a snooker table in, and still use it.
Bedroom 3 doesn't actually open onto a stairwell.

Oh, and I like the bannister, although I agree it's not very tactile.

“...distinctive architectural style...” “...Designed with flair and considerable panache...”. Agent struggling to come up with something convincing here. What a mess.

Always wondered what the Shooters Hill houses looked like inside, I used to deliver newspapers to one of them in the early 80s, my parents still live nearby. Can remember the outrage when the toll bridge charge doubled to 4p.

Agree with the comments that it's a terrible location, much nicer options in the other local villages.

I've been driving past this place for what seems like a lifetime, wondering when it would be completed...

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prop...

As you can see from the listing it is a high spec house in an elevated position, with views of the Severn Vale,

and a massive distribution and warehouse complex which is lit up at night like a Xmas tree

I quite like that, I'd have to assess the noise impact from the warehouse and M5

I'm no structural engineer but the exposed position and wind loading under the eves look fun.

ETA looks to be under the lee of the hill so maybe not so bad, I don't know how noisy the A46 is though.

Funny you should say that:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2082055/U...
(about halfway down the page...)

Round my way there's a little estate of new exec homes, each selling for £650k or so.

Well, when I say selling, they aren't. Same situation, they're all orientated towards views down and across fields. Those same fields that will have a science park on them within the next five years...

Haha

I actually really like that house. Looks better inside than out though. I bet it was an absolute pig to build.

The trouble is that the view in the opposite direction is of the A46.

Close to the very busy A46 would put me right off, as would the outlook over Brockworth’s industrial estate and the rest of Gloucester. The Swiss ambulance station design doesn’t do it for me either.

You don't get a great deal of motorway noise from there, but the big warehouses are pretty ugly. It's also quite an awkward location that's not really near anything- just far enough out of Cheltenham to make going a pain, and literally zero amenities within a reasonable distance. The Painswick Road it's just off is also fairly busy and quite a fast road (IIRC 50 limited but commonly driven much faster...)

There's a convenient lay-by/parking area that's notorious for dogging a short walk away too.
