What do you chaps do for kindling?
I know you can buy bags of it, but it will get expensive if I keep doing that.
I'm getting sick of taking the axe to larger logs, or taking the saw to smaller bits of tree every evening just to get some smaller stuff for lighting the fire.
Is there a reasonably priced machine that will split my logs into 4 or 6 segments without a) making a racket, and b) endangering me.
Small hatchet and a club hammer. Easy and fun! I know you can buy bags of it, but it will get expensive if I keep doing that.

Latest round of chopping up trees has resulted in several cubic metres of wood, and the need for makeshift log stores to be built, and wood stacked in them, in between all of the rain.
Pallets have been the material of choice.
An spare fence panel as a makeshift roof? Fall achieved by screwing it to the top of a sloping fence. Bodged!
More construction tomorrow.
And existing stores reorganised to make some good, dry wood easily accessible.
Cherry. Sad we don't have an open fire.
Random ash hiding in the garage.
Child labour was used for stacking, but the serf became bored and wandered off to find her mother. It's just not like the good old days of feudalism.

We have lots of pallets due to building work, I hadn’t thought about using them for this (was going to go for compost heaps), might do this.
Need to find a supplier for small logs for the hobbit stove we just had installed too.
I'm trying to work out if I can be bothered to spray the next one with black cuprinol to make it look nicer... Need to find a supplier for small logs for the hobbit stove we just had installed too.

That A frame is begging for a rambling rose to be trained up it and into the tree.
This one is an absolute beauty. I have one scrambling up a tree, and it's awesome.https://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/products/alexan...
