More mower news!

Just got a text from the blasters saying the parts were ready so I shot (pun alert!) straight round.

Before:

After:

Quick mock-up of the engine tinware... just to make sure it fits you understand!

Grips and throttle cleaned and fitted.

I love shiny bits!

Looking good. L&S Engineers list parts for old engines like JAP and Villiers if anybody needs anything.

Time for an update.

We have paint! And if I'm really lucky, matching paint.

Well, this seems to match the original.

The engine paint was the biggest worry but the colour is spot on. To think I almost painted it black.

A few more warm days and it'll soon be time for the rebuild, shouldn't take long either.

Still waiting for a number of new parts from a local supplier. Ordered last Tuesday for next day delivery... still waiting.

And so the rebuild begins...

A couple of teaser shots.

I've still got the sprocket cover and blade back plate to rub down and paint. Wish i'd done the same with the handle bars and engine cover TBH but it's a little late now.

What a great thread! My grandfather had a Suffolk Punch when I was a child. My father had a much bigger Atco machine which he eventually lost patience with and traded in for a Honda rotary mower. The Honda was easier to use but the quality of the cut was not so good as the cylinder mowers.

Just found this thread I have one of these in my shed with a broken drum and the bits to fix it.
This is going to be a bit of a project for me over the next couple of months.
Unfortunately the James May program isn't available anymore. If anyone is available to give some help along the way it would be appreciated.
