Fruit and veg growers of 2024
Discussion
I've always worked on a min temp for small plants - not seedlings. It looks like the min temp here (Kent) will be 8c from now on.
I bought one of these a while back https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B075VMLZB9/ref...
With an extra sensor, one for greenhouse, one for outside.

My tomato seedlings were started indoors and went outside in the greenhouse about a month ago - not ideal, but we were going away on holiday and there's no watering system indoors. Actually we had a watering system malfunction and lost a lot of plants, but the tomatoes survived. They aren't really thriving yet, though. I think they need a bit of good weather to really take off and temperatures in the greenhouse are in the twenties in the day but have been dropping to 5-6 degrees at night, which is not good. Hopefully warming up next week.
Our allotment seems to be absolutely overrun with slugs at the moment. The buggers have eaten 2 lots of broad beans that were coming up and the purple sprouting I'd put in. I don't particularly want to put down slug killer but do I have much of a choice? I've been going down every couple of days and killing any slugs I can find but they just seem to be multiplying...

I've had oranges, lemons , grapefruits and limes... Only one orange and a few small grapefruits on at the moment and no blossom yet this year . I can't say they are like the ones you buy in the shop, tend to have very pithy skins and not much juicey flesh . I've had no trouble with citrus fruit setting out in the garden .
My Lemon and Lime trees seem less tolerant of cold weather than the other , my Lime went completely bald two years ago , it's recovering slowly.
Better than my pears this year , they set OK , but every one has now turned brown and rotted .

It's been good growing weather for the veggies... Asparagus has been brilliant, Broad Beans ready for picking and Early Spuds should be ready next week
Fruit Trees not so good (no plums, few pears and cherries , apples, peach, gooseberries, strawberries and blueberries OK ,citrus trees getting lots of blossom now.
Greenhouses doing OK , toms look a bit leggy and blighty?

I know the stats show that, in spite of everyone's experience, March and April were apparently warmer than average if not record highs.
All I know is that I had terrible germination for all my Spring sowings, so I re-sowed in May and now both lots are coming through. OK Spring was wet too but wouldn't that make seeds rot rather than delay germination?
