Mine are side on to the fence.
There’s always one, isn’t therelaugh
Make that two!
Make it three.
Make it 4. We live on the coast. If you leave the bins with the wheels parallel to the wall, when it's windy, the bins get blown down the drive into the parked cars. If you leave them side on to the fence, worst case, they just get blown over.

Looks like it, I don't want to mention the R word but...

I drive it in forwards with the handles pointing out. The lid opens and folds all the way back to sit flat against the back of the bin. An artful flick and chip closes the lid when done.

The instructions from our DC....Broadlands....is to place the bin/s on the curtalige of the property close to the road with the handle facing outwards and the collection operative will place the bin back in the same place with the handle facing the property, so the householder will know when the bin has been emptied and can be placed back in it's usual keeping place.....

Unfortunately, the bloody binmen/wimmin have not received the same instructions and I frequently have to recover my bin from the middle of the pavement or even from the middle of my nieghbour's front garden.

But this all helps to keep this pensioner active!

I wonder when they''ll invent a bin with the handle and opening on the same side?

Surely handle out is only for those that don't reverse their cars into a parking bay?!

Refuse? That's also the green bin here in the North East... smile

Handle out for sure. I don't want the lids precariously balanced against the wall while I'm trying to squash the bags down in an overpacked bin.

Same.

When I put them out I leave them handle towards the road for easy access for the bin men. I assumed this was 'correct' but noticed that most other people in the road leave them handles in.
You’re doing it right, I reckon.
Handles in is idiotic.

Stored with handles/wheels facing out. It's just easiest.
Put out for the bin people the same way - handle/wheels facing the road.

I have two green bins and I like to leave one handle out as a rapid response bin and one handle in as a 'vault'.

I haven’t returned my emptied bin from the pavement for years.

I call the morning after bin night ‘bin wars day’ as most of my immediate neighbours are pensioners and they all peep out and of their windows and wait for the bins to be emptied and then see who can be the first to rush out and retrieve them and place them back on everyone’s drive.

Normally Geoff at number 17 is victorious That’s because Geoff is tactical.

This thread is starting to make me doubt the reputedly powerfully built nature of PH members.

I have absolutely no idea how the staff interact with the bins. I suppose I could ask the housekeeper.

Next?

I have a dedicated, 1 acre field just for the wheelie bins, each with their own hard standing. They are open from all sides, so no way round.
Just the one acre for all your bins? Do you even belong here?
Surely he must mean 1 acre per bin? Surely.

Mine's the one in the middle.
I feel like rescuing Hoofy’s bin and setting it free in my local park. His bin will never receive the Red Tractor stamp. Poor thing.

Do wheelie bins eat more grass than horses? wobble
