If there's any kind of flow (and I presume there is) then you'll just be carried downstream once you're off your feet.I spent a few hours in it earlier.
Well, no, I no longer have a boat and was not glass bottomed anyway. But I had a thought that a simple viewing tube could be fashioned out of a length of four-inch soil-pipe. Perhaps affix a piece of glass on one end with a silicone sealant, with no need for anything on 'tother end as long as glass-seal is air-tight. A waterproof torch strapped on the end would be optional.

Actually if anyone has a glass-bottomed boat with lights under it, that would be handy...
(knowing the wonders of PH I'll have a choice of three by tomorrow!)
Not a glass bottom boat but why not rig up a 10 inch diameter pipe with a bit glass/ perspex on one end and look through it.(knowing the wonders of PH I'll have a choice of three by tomorrow!)
pipe
Endcap for pipe
Perspex
Cut a hole in the endcap, glue/silicon the perspex in place and screw endcap onto the pipe. Add lights if needed.
