House too big for the plot? Check
Interior completely out of character with the Arts and Crafts pastiche exterior? Check
Tiny, unusable garden? Check
Perfect view of giant mobile phone tower? Check

Oh go on, take my £3.25 million I love it.

I've never understood why people would take inspiration from a business park hotel.
That was my thought. Looks like a Premier Inn.

Yup, horrific. Smaller house giving a usable garden would have been better. Also the dentist's surgery interior is bizarre with that exterior.

A parquet floor in the entrance & some oak on the staircase/doors would have looked much nicer imho.

I'm normally an "each to their own" type of person but that is just awful inside!

Before even clicking the link I said to myself ‘Got to be HGS’. To be fair, the whole premise of the area is Arts and Crafts, it’s how it was designed.

The main issue I have with it is it is so out of keeping with it's neighbours, and accordingly an eyesore to many. Mum and dad call it fantasy towers.
In and of itself, I've no particular objection to the exterior. Not my personal cup of tea but not hugely objectionable. I agree with the point about context though. There's a row of Victorian terraces near me. Part of their appeal is their uniformity and some nice brickwork details. One of them has recently been painted pale grey. In isolation it looks okay but as part of the terrace, it looks pretty incongruous.

Similarly there's a 70's estate that's actually quite distinctive (in a good way). Somewhat spoiled by the odd house that has been 'improved' with the tired combo of cream K-Rend, black window frames & oak front door. Sure, they look a bit more modern, but they diminish the cohesive look of the wider development, something the owners never seem to take into account.

That bathroom looks pretty much the same as my workplace's toilets (sans the tub!). I'm not entirely sure i'm OK with that.

How do houses even get in that state?

I'd imagine if i left my house for 10, 20, even 30 years it would look pretty much the same as i left it inside.

I told the estate agent that I was looking for a project and this was one of the places I was shown. I decided it was a bit much!

Still £710,000 for that, in Essex. I don't care how close it is to a London station, I can see a lot of work there and the finished house price surely cannot make it worthwhile doing. First time developers getting carried away?

This one in Upminster was recently sold for £720k and it's a 5 bed semi - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatc...

3 bed semis listed sold recently in Upminster have sold from £395k to £680k - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/house-prices/detailMatc...

Smoker who had a burst pipe. Looks like a serious damp issue that wasn't really dealt with.
