Meanwhile my partner went to the Police Monday; an ex employee has copied a load of our data and is trying to blackmail us.

Apparently they are taking the matter very seriously and will visit him and ensure he deletes all our data.....over the course of the next two weeks.

Perhaps it would have been more expedient if he had threatened to chop a tree down rather than just demand money!

Great thread OP, thank you.
Cheers mate!

I would be a bit concerned about that large tree on the left hand side in the last photo. The spreading roots can be a problem, and any leaves they shed can continually fall into the pool.

I had to have one of mine removed, and the roots killed (in Malta) for this reason, money well spent.

Great thread btw.
Thanks, It is a cedar (or a Scottish Pine) and the roots spread in a nut shape. The only ones we have encountered so far are less than 2cm thick. Obviously they shed pine needles, but not to anywhere near the extent of normal pine trees.

This was a major factor of putting the pool in that place. I'll let you know if I am completely wrong!!!

Cheers

You're on day 3. The progress on this is remarkable and I wish you and your daughter many lovely swims upon completion.

This is taking "JFDI," to new and impressive places!
Thank you. I was always taught if a job is worth doing, then it is worth doing well. In this case it has to also mean quickly - but without cutting any corners.

If it is delayed, then it is. I hope not and with Nick running it I seriously doubt not, but doing the job properly is the most important thing.

The only things that are impossible are anything and everything you think are impossible.

All else is perfectly possible, if you put your mind to it.

(Sorry, that sounded st! I simply meant do it!)

Heard at work here in West Bridgford about a crane lifting a swimming pool into a garden and this thread came to mind and here we are. Looks awesome.

Loving this thread OP and it's fantastic seeing how everything is progressing.

Just out of interest (and feel free to tell me to jog on) but how much roughly does a crane that size cost? And presumably its hired by the hour than the job?
Thanks! I was told to expect an eye-watering bill to get the crane in so quickly, but have just found out it was £600 for yesterday and another £600 to lift the pool into position on Monday - so nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

Thanks everyone for the fantastic comments and feedback!

I've just done the first tea round for the guys. They arrived again at 7:30am and have filled two 10 ton lorries already! Hardcore going in the whole later then the steel reinforced concrete going down at 4:00pm.

I need to chose a nice looking (summer house style) shed now to house the plant and store seat and lounger covers.

Also need to finalise the paving. It is either find a good match to the York Stone effect slabs on the terrace that connects to it or go for something different for the pool area (so not to look like I tried to match but failed). I'm going to try and go for a match but any feedback welcome.

I'll post some more photos later but they won't be as exciting as yesterdays!

Cheers!

It was my tree in my garden! The police checked we had consent to take it down (conservation village) and left!

If you want a custom shed building, I'm not too far away.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't think a custom build is an option given the time constraints (it has to be up in position next week).

The shell was that price as the spec was very high end, its size and having to pay a premium to get immediate delivery (jump the wait) from the manufacturer in Germany. The price includes this delivery premium, a massage jet system, additional pool lighting and their top level solar slatted electric cover with inbuilt cover pit (so it is invisible when open).

You can get them for much less than this dependent on size and spec and waiting for a delivery slot.

Heating will be oil boiler and large green keg tank hidden behind bushes (can't get gas in time and there would be more disruption too) coupled with an air source pump and the solar cover to keep it at temperature in hot/warm months without using the oil.

I used Asher Swimpool Centre and they were very helpful. Ask for John. Nick (PH name lrdisco) is your man for instillation!

You hope.

PHers are expecting photos of the police and perhaps some kind of helicopter lifting your pool.
Believe it or not hat was, actually, an option! I know of someone with a Bell Sea Ranger and if we couldn't get a crane I was going to give him a call!

What happens to the inside of the pool? Do you paint it/leave as it etc?
Just clean and fill. The colour is lighter in the flesh than it looks in the pictures and has blue flecks. It results in a nice deep blue colour when filled with water.

Just found this thread with 21 pages of goodness. thank you OP, thank you.

I long for a pool - i just don't have a garden big enough.... i don't think lol...

if i had anything meaningful put in we certainly wouldn't have any garden left smile.
Thank you!

Sill worth measuring it out to see what you could put in, they come in all sizes and make a stunning centrepiece!

Thanks again for the fantastic comments everyone!

As an update, were were seriously losing time as the ten ton trucks could not get to their tipping point and back at anywhere near the rate we were pulling out ground.

Solution? I used part of my paddock as a temporary tipping site and we blitzed through yesterday and this morning with the ground work. They can then come back at their pace to collect from my paddock.

I knew there would be a good use for it at some point!

How're you going to get the mini digger out the hole?!?
Dig a ramp out, but if you've got a crane coming back, well, it would be rude not to wouldn't it?
It will come out on the ramp - the concrete is going in at 4:00pm today!
