2nd Opinion on Lintel for Patio Door
Discussion
Lucky escape - I had the exact same thing at my place. Previous owner had had the load bearing timber window replaced with UPVC patio door. Installer used flat iron of similar section. The comments about brickwork cracking, door not opening weren't exaggerating. The brickwork bowed so much it had shifted outward ca.15mm at the base.
All replaced with rolled steel angle, decent bearings etc and a lot of bricks cleaned up and reused. Two years on, still good!
