Great thread, fantastic project and a really good end product. cool

Surprised at how little plant there is on a modern pool, I remember my parents having a pool built about 20 years ago and the plant room was like some kind of chemical factory.

The copings also help stop the pointing in the paving wearing away , but it's an easy fix if you decide to do it later . I didn't install them at first but did after a winter , that said , your in Spain so shouldn't suffer frost delamination of the paving .
I wouldn't be so sure!!!

Worst weather in 40 years last month. Typical. Anyway all replaced now.

Great project and very impressed by your research and implementation of the plant choice.

Just to show that it will last, here's ours, just round the corner near the Golf Club, and now 16 years old. One pump failure and one leak in all that time.
Weather's a bit better today!

Normal service resumed. Spent Easter installing a replacement gazebo and at the same time we added another. All coming together nicely now.

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but I was in contact with Mykap last Autumn following this thread who gave me some helpful tips, as we're not far from him in Javea. I thought some of you might be interested in our pool renovation. It was 18 years old and a few mosaics had lifted and the pool needed to be cleaned and regrouted. The coronation, as it is called, was badly weathered and I wanted to use the same new pump as Mycap.

As with him, PB deleted my 'before' picture of our pool, so here are a couple showing the coronation.

As we wanted a cover, mission creep took over and an electric one with the roller underwater was ordered. This meant two things - the semicircular steps would not work with the cover, and the pool would need to be extended to incorporate the roller.

The steps were removed and squared off, and a new back wall built and reinforced with steel

first concrete spraying

the second wall built

that was sprayed and new steps built

the old coronation was removed and in the background we're working out where to put the solar panels so they're hidden from the house, behind the garage and naya (open terrace).

So then we were back in the UK for a couple of months and on our next visit the job is completed.

Pictures taken today, sunny but cold in the wind.

However, the solar panels were working well with hot incoming water to the heat exchanger.

and with the cover in position, simple one click remote control. The 'wood effect' panels can be lifted out for cleaning the roller, but locked in position for safety

Lovely evening sun
