Final update! Its 99.5% complete, but finished as far as this thread goes.

Consumer unit for 'leccy' needs sorting, which is why there are extension cables being used.

I'm really pleased with the final results.

Price finished has come in at £110k (roughly). A lot more than we thought, but then again about 15-20k of that was completely unexpected as we found the chimney and gables needed rebuilding and we ended up doing new ground floor ceilings too. We did also make some changes, like going for solid oak stairs and adding a roof light to make the landing and hallway below lighter.

Looking great - congratulations.

What timber did you use for the stairs? Are they soft wood then clad or hardwood? Also what dims is your shower screen? I'm fitting a 1200 x 800 tray and want a screen like that but I'm dealing with reduced head height.

I'm towards the end of a loft conversion so all very relevant!

The bathroom and glazing arrangement you have in that dormer in particular, is lovely, really good job!

Thanks. It's taken time, money, disruption and effort so I'm glad people think it looks good.

Stairs are solid oak.

Shower tray is 1500mm long screen is 90mm. It's not in use because drains are being connected as I type! But I reckon quite a bit of water would escape of shorter. Guess it then comes down to how many use the shower as to whether that's a problem?

Looks excellent, really opened it up and very nice view from the road. Could have always been like that.

You mention a couple of times about the builders going and returning to the site. Did you put any clauses in the contract what would happen if they didn't return? We're going to do changes aswell and see others on this thread doing the same, but getting tradesmen to turn up on time around here can be a real pain....

The contract was a one line email telling me the price. Well, the original price!

I have used these guys before so had an element of trust. but the way we dealt with it is staged payments, once work is completed.

Theres only really gutters left to do now, but I still owe them a smidge under £5k. I'm sure they will be back to finish!!

Thank you for the prompt response covmutley. Really useful practical information for us about to do something similar. Watching with great interest.
