This thread has inspired me to sort mine out, it's a double garage and have spent today painting the floor on one side. I'm also putting in some polystyrene insulation in the roof.

Finally got round to painting the garage smile

Four (!) coats of white emulsion on the walls, I didn't realise just how much or an arse breeze block would be to pint over.

Sealed with Ronseal concrete sealer.

Painted with Leyland 'trade' floor paint.

Total cost ~ £70

Very happy with result so far, hopefully I will avoid the dreaded paint flake.

Looks great - love the colour and the ingenious storage solutions for the bikes. Good effort!

Thanks!

I use the garage for static bike training in the winter so it's nice not to have dust everywhere!

An update of sorts. Overall I am happy with the paint work, but the floor has started to peel up where the wheels sit. I guess I didn't prep properly.

Other than that, it is fine. No dust anymore which is nice.

I keep my Scooby in this garage now, and it is a bit of a tighter fit than the '5:

So, to help me get out without bashing the doors, I got some cushioning off an old headboard. I was originally going to put some carpet up, but it would have looked naff.

Comments and suggestions welcome, especially if you know how to stop my floor peeling!

JFReturns I would just go with more paint.... try a spirit/rubber based paint...

Unfortunatly with tamped concrete you'll allways get high spots which, when painted, will wear no matter how many coats you apply.
Now you know roughly where the tyres are going to be parked, why not use a chisle/bolster and tidy up the concrete, repair and paint again?.

It can also be a reaction with the silica in the tyres to the paint.

I've got 4 square carpet tiles under my wheels (about £3 each from B&Q).

The thing to do now is to apply paint where the patches are, put the tiles down whilst the paint is wet (so they effectively stick to the floor) then paint the rest of the floor .

I did this over 6 months ago and the tiles are still in place.

That sounds like a good idea, as it will help me with the parking too.

An idea for the future....

Car tyres get hot during driving. Then 'stick' slightly when parked on painted concrete. Next day you drive off pulling up small postage stamps of paint. Not found a paint yet that's impervious.
Easiest way round it is to drop some offcut squares of vinyl flooring or carpet where the wheels will stand.....

I wonder if it would work to put down some self level compound in a garage, my garage floor has more fall than my wet room floor biglaugh and i would like to level it up.

Just a bit concerned that the latex stuff may not be strong enough in terms of being chipped and the like if stuff falls onto it.

Then level it up and tile it!
Job done!

My thoughts are to stay within 300x300mm - less easy to crack and much easier to replace if cracked..

Ideally Porcelain, possibly vitreous, last resort ceramic.
I would not go near other tiles - I want something permanent that cannot trap fluids.
