Never really understood the Prowler hate. I think it's a good effort -- obvs would be better with a V8 and hopefully you can take the ugly bumpers off. Started a phase of retro styled cars including the Ford Thunderbird (the Foose Speedbird version looks good) and the Chevrolet SSC.
Looks like there are several US companies making indicator mounts which bolt in where the bumpers go, makes a huge difference. Obviously this exposes the front wheels, which may be an issue...Edited by Gareth79 on Monday 24th August 13:37

That's the super rare one with not only stickers and a big wing, but the mis-matched wheels too. Like a twin turbo T-top manual Supra, it really is the holy grail.
That's pretty harsh comparing a Boxster to a Supra.I'm shocked by the anti Prowler stance. I think they are cool because they are something different. Would I want one? Probably not but if the Prowler and that 911 were parked up next to each other at a meet, it'd look at the Prowler 1st. It's not a better car but it's quirky and different.
I'd forgotten about this thread! Went back to the beginning and looked over the first few pages - quite a lot of folk just wading in and being a dick for the sake of it.
Agree also that the Prowler doesn't deserve the hate, although the OPs choice of wheels is always going to be divisive.
I liked Donkey's suggestion - great solution

OP, just had a thought.
Your main issue was the hassle of putting a car cover on every time you parked up.
How about setting two nice looking steel rings at either rear corner of the parking space. Then fix an eye hook on each of the garage frame uprights (below the height of the car roof line) and then leave a tarp attached to the eye hooks and when you park up you just pull the tarp over the car and bungee to the rings. The tarp would then be tensioned over the car and deflect all water due to being pulled over the roof. Or use a triangular tarp with a single fixing to the centre of the garage or another ring set in the paving?
Dirt cheap to set up and can't possibly irritate any logical neighbours and makes putting the cover on and off incredibly quick as you'd just leave it attached to the garage (as that appears to not be in regular use).

Yet that's how I see a Prowler -mass produced, generic tat - the entire point of a hot rod was that you couldn't go and buy one, you had to build one and it had better have a V8 in it !
11,702 made. Over 800,000 RX7 made. Porsche sells 35,000 911 models a year.Hot rods weren't necessarily performance cars, just like most heavily modified car scenes.

I quite agree. there is too much bland anonymous stuff out there. These are radically different. I'd have one.Escy said:

Agreed, I really like any cars which are different to the normal dull crap on the roads (my car history shows this...). I'd much rather have a chat with a Prowler owner than somebody with a grey BMW.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
