I suspect they are doubled glazed panes (just no secondary glazing of course).

Bare walls, windows and floors mean it'll be (or feel) cold most of the year (single glazing won't help there either) and sounds will echo all round the house, also poor lighting as far as I can see.
.
Its a period home, the windows would be ruined if double glazed. Personally i dont like fitted carpets in period homes either and i dont understand the modern obsession with surgical theatre grade lighting throughout homes, i like the changes and creation of shadows and shapes and tone brought by a variance in lighting.

It is of course entirely fine to think the opposite of me however!
beer

It would be a boring world of we all thought the same.

It's very difficult to double glaze period windows (and they look period to me) - there just isn't the depth in the window bars and additionally modern glass looks too....modern (no imperfections gives the game away).

This will sound a bit pretentious, but i dont like new glass in old windows, if it can be avoided, which i understand sometimes cant be avoided.

I have georgian sash windows in my home, so i get there are pros and cons.

I know the agent copy talks about living in "18th-century elegance" but I think the house is late Victorian or maybe Edwardian? Shouldn't be a problem retrofitting windows of that age (I've had it done in previous properties). You might find it a bit harder on Gibbon's Georgian windows but I don't think that's what we're dealing with here.

Needs some interior design but I'd be staring out the windows most of the time.

I'd also be quite happy with this.

None of those houses are in West Wales wink

And there's a reason houses are cheap this side of Offa's Dyke. Without getting too political, the economy doesn't lend itself to expensive housing.

Quite like this:

https://search.savills.com/property-detail/gbpersp...

It's away from the midgies & tourists (although the Cateran Trail is just the far side of the burn).

The layout is a bit odd.

Me too. I'd perhaps want to be checking that burn in spate, but I guess as a mill it will have been built to cater for that.

You know when you get a sense that nice people live in a house?

Lovely.

And yes, get that completely.

If I'd only seen pics of Flashman's gaff, I'd have thought the same... wink

Morag, why would we change the television, this one from 1990 is perfectly fine!

Now, come warm your hands round this roaring candle!

Suspect you get snowed in for a few days a year. Perfect for getting to 'Shee though.
