What a shame. No doubt to be replaced by a gauche pile comprising numerous bi-fold doors, white rendered external walls, a completely white interior, huge abstract ‘art’ on the walls and a commercial kitchen that’ll be snapped up by a City player.
It was very obviously broken, to be fair - those deco houses are notorious for design & build issues with damp etc, but I too hope replaced by something half decent.
Didn't it have major structural issues?

What I find interesting is that so few of these pawn places are in the major cities. London / Manchester etc.

Is the countryside the only place to get big, nice houses?
At a reasonable price, yes, some of the places on here that are priced between 1.75 mil, and 3 mil plus, would be 6 or 7 mil in Fulham or Putney, and 10 to 14 mil in Kensington or Notting Hill, or elsewhere in civilisation.
Yeah, this might be the property pawn thread but I think most people (like me) are put off even looking at stuff anywhere around London, the prices are so unreasonable. Can't speak for other city centres, but I certainly find London to be unappealingly* expensive.

* Just to clarify, I live in the suburbs of London on the river (Kingston Upon Thames area) and I love the city to bits. I just cant imagine living here unless I was very wealthy indeed or house prices really crash very very hard.

Dunno, but it wouldn’t surprise me. As Bonefish says, houses from this period tend to be poorly constructed. Friends had one that looked fabulous from the outside and had a wonderful interior with lovely fittings and features, but it was a structural nightmare and a money pit. Frequently leaking flat roof, failed lintels, blown render and corroded metal-framed windows.

Yes Art Deco houses with their draughty iron frame windows and leaky flat roofs, always need to look carefully at them, same with Georgian built houses and their chimneys.

House prices crash very, very hard?
Wash your mouth out with soap and water, sent from my 3 storey Town House.*

It’s pawn, so I’ll ignore the price, but I do like this. I’d have murdered the garden within 6 months though.

Very nice. I’m a bit confused by the two dryers or washing machines in the kitchen/pantry?

How can we help? They are the sort of machines ones Scullery Maid might be familiar with.

One on the left is a dryer, the one on the right is a washing machine, how is that confusing?

Why would you want a washing machine in your kitchen?

I know what you mean, but I think that’s a bit harsh. I always associate HdV with endless amounts of dark plum coloured walls and bedding.

I do like that! Glancing back a few pages and it seems like the Savills website and Instagram feeds are good fodder for this thread.

Yes, they get a lot of the plumb properties.

St Mawes lovelyness, but not surprisingly your money doesn’t go far there.

Lovely.

That to me is a perfect sized house, plenty of rooms, all seem plenty big enough without feeling too big and therefore a cozy family home.
