In terms of underlay, I assume anything suitable for laminate flooring will do?

I would have thought so. Dyno-tile just sell the rolls of thin foam, just a few mm thick.

My misses would go nuts if I hoovered outdoors!
Doesn't everyone have a garage/outdoor vacuum cleaner ?
yeah...have one on the wall of the garage ...hoover the garage out from time to time and cars

Also do the (fake) grass once a year with the Henry vac out of my workshop and may do the paved area close by as required.

I use the workshop and garage vac more than the house vac, we divide up the chores wink
Hoover also in the garage for the cars etc. Otherwise the leaf blower get's used to blow all the accumulated debris out, and then gets swept up.

Yeah the samples came with a small piece of foam, just felt too thin almost, but I guess if that's what they recommend.....

These were their original design which I thought looked and worked well - seems they have changed design since then but agree the new design looks too messy!

Well, this thread made me buy a Titan wetvac which is a good bit of kit - thanks!

Still get to decide on what to go for flooring wise - Plasfloor have ignored my emails asking when the dark grey will be back in stock and haven't sent me any samples which is frustrating. Also waiting on the new garage doors getting installed as I'm wanting those edge strips nice and neat...

In the meantime, I'm going to seal the concrete with £20 worth of Bostik sealer from Toolstation in an attempt to keep the dust at bay.

Ah well, will get there eventually! Anyone else done a recent floor and recommend what they'd use?

Look back a page or so (24 July), I went with https://r-tekmanufacturingltd.com/

Nearly 3 weeks in, and I've been moving units around, had the QuickJacks on them and still very happy.

Good quality PVC tiles do not need an underlay and will not click as you walk on them. My business sells acres of these every month, though it's a premium product and not suited to those who think carpet tiles and the cheaper PVC tiles are good enough wink

Thanks, Podie, I've sent them a request for a sample tile (I think 5mm will be sufficient for me as I'm not planning to jack up cars or anything) and a quote for my double garage requirements. Do think their joints look better than the PlasFloor ones too. It was the dark grey that you put down, wasn't it?

Edit: They've responded within an hour with a recommendation to use 7mm tiles (as I may get a car in there at some point) and sent out a sample tile today. Much better service than PlasFloor and their quote came back at £790 so the price is competitive. If the sample tile is decent then they'll be getting my cash!

Curios on the sqm cost. How many square metres is your garage?

They sent me a full size tile as a sample, which was a surprise when most were the size of a beer mat.

I thought the price / quality of R-Tek was better than that of Plasfloor, but that is just my opinion. I'm happy with the joints. Nothing has "popped" yet and whilst the floor was flat it wasn't billiard table smooth.

I'm pretty much exactly 30m^2 but they've quoted for 31:

31sqm of 5mm dovetail textured dark grey tiles @ £18.50 per sqm = £696.00
3 packs of 5mm dark grey edges @ £11.80 per pack = £35.40
Delivery to UK mainland = £50.00
VAT = £131.78
Total = £790.68

Edit: revised quote with 7mm tiles:

31sqm of 7mm dovetail textured dark grey tiles @ £21.75 per sqm = £674.25
3 packs of 7mm dark grey edges @ £11.80 per pack = £35.40
Delivery to UK mainland = £50.00
VAT = £151.93
Total = £911.58

I do like the look of the Dotti tiles but it would be £600 for the packs I need from CTD and then I don't think I'm up for trying to lay them!

Bit easier to cut a plastic floortile to shape with a jigsaw / Stanley blade and then tap it in place with a rubber hammer!

Anyone know if Plasfloor are still in business?

I’ve requested samples twice, but none delivered, and tried calling a number of times but no answer.

Their IT/comms is appalling - just look at the state of the website! I requested a sample and didn’t receive it (2 months ago). Bought the tiles anyway and got them, but I only received an email confirmation of the order and an invoice. No dispatch notification and no tracking. It arrived on a pallet and the guy had no way to get it off the van. Luckily I was in as he needed my help to get it out of the van, and then I had to help him carry it as he didn’t have a sack truck or similar. I had no idea it was arriving that day!

Such a shame. Looks like a decent product and a decent price, just can’t see myself ordering blind (without a sample) and from a company that doesn’t pick up the phone or respond to email…. And that has sub-standard delivery by the sounds of it.

Likewise, have no regrets laying tile instead of rubber flooring

Which manufacturer's product did you use?
