Within a mile.

Cardiff has a mix of everything though all within a few miles. Half mill does you well in most areas of Cardiff with enough change for decorating.

Nearest station is about 3 miles away, and 35-45 minutes journey into the city (including the high speed link)

Very typical of what 500K will get you in my area:

Not huge but not tiny, either. 3/4 beds front and rear gardens, garage, off street parking for a couple of cars. Not a palace but a decent home.

We purchased last year (August).

200 houses on the street and on average 5 sell each year. Two very good primary schools within walking distance etc.

Ours is pretty much identical to this (slightly different layout upstairs inc. an additional bathroom and no conservatory):

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope... (sold within a week). We paid just under £468k

A couple of recent sales... world has gone mad...

Bloody hell! Your area is not cheap.

Where we are (Leighton Buzzard) seems to be going through a little bit of a boom with people moving out of the likes of Hemel Hempstead to take advantage of the cheaper house prices but the good train links into London (direct train is 35mins into Euston) or quick access to the M1 (10-15mins).

Don't get me wrong, we have a lovely house but it is just a family home not a mansion! Some of the cost per sq ft/m on houses in the south are insane.

This is in our village on a very quiet lane. The garden's on a steep slope though.
