Still not clear why the OP has ceded 12" of their land, the fence makes no more sense where it is than it would a foot to the right, although the grass by the fence would be tricky to get at with the neighbour's mower.

Why have you effectively gifted them an extra foot of land? IANAL but it reads that you need to check the rules on adverse possession so that you know when & how to retain your rights over the land which is now on 'their' side of the fence.
It gives him, the space to plant a box hedge.

When I put up a fence inside the boundary, I also put up a low post and wire on the boundary so that there was no later issue. Still looked neat from the neighbour's side.
That seems designed to cause maximum annoyance to the neighbour?

Behold!! Not only have we erected a fence, we've also erected a really annoying trip wire to ensure that you have to keep the strip of our land on your side of our fence tidy manually because I've made sure you can't mow up to it!

Did that fence come out of a Lego set?
God no! Lego lasts forever and does more damage to your foot than you do to it if you tread on it.

Just needs to wrap it up in barbed wire and it's done.

i can see from owners view point , if you going to install a fence , so many options available

a low composite decorative panel , pop over with a bottle of wine , show them a few examples then install everyone's happy

sorry but what you have made looks DIY ....which it is

OPs not replied to my question but I'd put money on the fence being a red herring. From the initial post with a neighbour crossing their "garden", dog crapping on it, leaving things etc it sounds like this was one grassed area.

I'd bet money the OP has put up a fence and at the same time shoved down a load of gravel and parked on it. The neighbour has an issue with this, not so much the fence.

Perhaps a wall would have been better. Like perhaps Westminster bridge

I think I prefer the OP's fence, that looks like the type of fencing that caravan dwellers choose.

If I view the pic of the fence closely I can see a grey artifact attached to the top rail. Photoshop?

I did wonder this because where the middle post hits the gravel it looks off and then it all looks a bit off but surely someone isnt gonna waste time doing this about a fence for some bantz on PH surely?

Not sure why you would build the fence 1 foot into your property, I'm assuming the bay window in the photo is the neighbours window?

Going to make mowing that strip of grass difficult.

I would have push the fence back closer to your boundary line, I would also put feather edge board on your fence, really easy to do and will finish it off.

Agree with that - looks like it's just missing a wing'd horse of chav tat on the top of each post above the plastic panel...

Won't somebody think of the airbricks! Should be 75 mm clear below and one is now sort of half blocked.

Good spot, 6" would be better but at least 3" stops most moisture.
