They are both nice and seem pretty good value. I live in one like the first so bound to be a bit biased but the second I like. Amazed it was built like it unless there was some sort of historical precedent that was a planning requirement. Decent garage/shed too.

Hmm not keen on the second one. Bit slab sided and I have a strong dislike of spiral staircases.
agreed about the stairs - however as that'd only be used for guests it really wouldn't bother me.

Unfortunate-looking tower; I'm getting some rather dark vibes from that.
It is certainly rather odd looking, dare I say ugly?
Looks like the watchtower at a concentration camp.

I quite like the 2nd one, so I must be odd. However, having said that, it seems 2 bedrooms have en-suite and 2 others don't have access to another bath/shower room, so any occupants would need to access another bedroom's en-suite?

Looking at google maps of the house (a few years ago) I can't quite make out what it used to be because surely no one would have designed a house to look like that, one half of a house attached to a tower, it's so random. So the tower came first but what was it originally? Near the sea, lookout tower and observation tower for Napoleon/Kaiser/Hitler/Tusk?

The version of google maps I saw had the later “cock n’ balls” design.

It’s an odd house in an odd location. Some of the photos make it appear that it isn’t nearly touching next door. The nice long view of the house up the driveway isn’t the house drive way! I’m also curious to know why the land behind hasn’t been developed. If you zoom out on google maps everywhere else has been.
Because the land behind is not included for housing in the Council’s Draft Local Plan 2016-2033.
The 'sea estates' in that area certainly contain some unusual properties. Quite a few celebs and retired big business types. You don't chance on it either as it's at the end of a road with no through traffic.

Got an interesting old map there and I like the lost chapel story.

Prices along that tiny bit of coast are very high. You can pay close to £30K for a beach hut with the sea in front and a car park behind you! It's not Sandbanks but every tired old house seems to get done up or demolished and replaced with something at £1.5M-£3M. Being near water is a big draw.

As I think an earlier poster said, location is everything. I honestly wouldn't want to live in London yet it has some of the highest prices on earth. Likewise I don't want land to maintain and a half empty house to heat. I should probably have put more effort into thinking about these things when I was younger! At least I'll be happy in my little flat.

I really don't like this (and I don't like being rude about someone's home) but it's sold.

Places like water towers and windmills are definitely marmite. I like marmite and quite fancy living in an old factory or bunker. Better something like that than some nondescript modern estate house anyday.

Think I'd be on my own though...

I like that, shame about the position of the stairs down to the cellar but the rest of it looks like a bit of cosmetic updating is all that's required.

Was thinking "that's not too bad"

Then I saw the Yellow laundry room.

Then the ridiculous extension!

Less is more! laugh

The (original) brick work is lovely. Bookshelf wallpaper is Pat Butcher tacky. The extension is wholly unsympathetic to the building.

Looks like a lot of space for the money, and slightly o/t but I do like the way they show the floorplan then the photos of each floor in the slideshow - makes it easier to envisage the way the house is laid out.

I rather like this one, plus it's homely rather than feeling the need to be showy.
