I'm more of a young Tom Cruise(Think Top Gun). Julian's photo did me no justice.

I thought the water would arrive by tanker rather than road sweeper. Is that normal?
We planned to use the Road Sweepers metered fire Hydrant supply but the Hydrant opposite was seized!!!
So the sweeper driver did multiple trips to the nearest Hydrant to keep the water flowing.

Then the 4pm concrete pour arrived at 6pm.
We are having lots of look on the job. All of it bad.
Now having a Drink. Cheers Julian.

Stupid question time - why are the drains all the way over on the edge of the patio and not closer to the perimeter of the pool?

I'll wager it's because there's a fall away from the pool. Ask me the perils of getting non-specialists to pave around a pool...

Not something to do with the displacement caused by ten thousand PHers?

And you would be 100% correct!

I can see why the pool delivery driver couldn't drive it in.
He did.

He drove it in, then out.
Then in and out again.
Then decided it was best to use the full length.

I was sat in my office looking out the window at the rain and thinking I hope the guys aren't working in this. Afternoon was like a different day.

Just to clarify, those are drains for the patio and not for the pool.

One thing I cannot seem to make out is that the pool only seems to have skimmers and I have not seen any bottom drains. My pool does some of its best clearing work when the pump is off and everything settles to the bottom and then when the pump comes back on it sucks it up in the bottom drain, aided by a sump design with 8foot deep end. Does the design not need a bottom drain? Maybe the whirlpool design does away with that need?

Not a stupid question.
We want to minimise the visual impact of the drainage. Water needs to run away from the pool on the whole.

This thread is incredible, and what an amazing thing to do for your daughter. Can't wait to see the finished result. I work in Bingham, it's a small PH world!

Maybe the plan is to use a Kreepy Krauly - these were very popular in South Africa.

Come on boys. It's a fairly nice day. Do some of you need a hand getting up?

Where's 'fairly nice'? In the Med?
I'm in the Midlands and it's cold, wet & windy here! July my arse!
