Looks great..... other than the neighbours!
Morning mate

Thanks, nothing I can do about that house I am affriad! When it came on the market I did consider buying it to knock it down, but at £750,000 plus costs it made no financial sense.

The trees and pots will do the job for me!

For anyone interested, the trees were from www.formplants.com who had them shipped over from Italy for me and did the whole delivery and instillation.

The stunning pots were bespoke made in Jersey by www.torcpots.com - who are also excellent.

Jamie, Danny and the whole team at Form Plants worked together brilliantly with Hylton and Nicole at Torc Pots to take care of every aspect and I can highly recommend them.

I have no other association other than being an ecstatic customer! biggrin

The trees and pots look really nice. They're going to take some watering though until they get established I'd have thought. Have you got an auto system?
They are indeed and no, we don't have an automated system (Form Plants advised us to install one).

When Steve the plumber gets here this morning to fix the boiler I am going to speak to him about this.

Cheers

I have a drip system for. My wife's industrial sized green house, it works great we can either run it from the mains via a timer with a flow restrictor or we can link it up to a water butt with no restrictor. It works great we got ours from Dobbies garden centre.
Thanks for that, I'll bring it up with Steve when he has finished making loud banging sounds! biggrin

Very good, it takes the edge off the harsh look of the paving and walls just nicely. Really adds to the look of the pool. Are they going to knit together and form a continuous hedge or just be kept as they are?
Morning mate

It does and was much needed after he took down all of the greenery that provided the privacy.

I want to keep them in a lollipop shape as they grow to provide full screening, but will evaluate if it looks like a continuous hedge would work better.

I was just about to ask that - cheers!
No problem, I can't recommend both of them more highly, the customer service levels and attention to detail was simply off the scale.

I’ll check and get back to you mate.

Here is a pic that gives some perspective (Derek in the pic is 5 foot 10)

The trees obviously have some more growing to do! smile

Given Derek is 5ft 10, I, accurately using the Derekscale, guess the trees to be 9ft 8'

The Derekscale is actually a thing in my home.

Usually it refers to you capacity for stupidity (me, how did your brain scan go? Derek, they couldn’t find anything)! biggrin

He is one of my best mates in the world though. smile

Those trres and pots look very nice Julian.
I'm thinking solar fairy lights tastefully wrapped around the trunks and a un uniform strand or two of the lights linking them all together for the summer evenings.

My local farmer has planted Sunflowers in the field next to our pool this year! I thought that was very nice of him. Dusty later when harvested though.

The French sunshine has managed to heat my pool up to about 30c this week! For us that's a tad warm!

Good luck with the new neighbour.
Thanks mate

I already have uplights behind them but we are adding fairy lights round the bar area of 'Forky's' so can see if this works with the trees.

Edited to add, even with my boiler broke (now repaired) the weather here managed to heat it back up to 30 degrees too (solar cover probably helped)!

I am liking it a bit cooler than that now!

smile

Tasteful solar lights?
Julian was planning 150W halogens, carefully aimed backwards to blind the neighbours, for ripping their greenery out hehe

You can use Derek as a unit of measurement now.

How tall are those trees? About one and a half Dereks.

Where's the nearest petrol station? Two hundred Dereks down the road then turn right.

laugh
Morning mate

What is more worrying is that you know exactly to the Derek how far away my nearest petrol station is...

biggrin

Neighbour took to secateurs to that 30 years ago.

I have been admiring Julian’s huge wood and balls. It’s very impressive. If he ever wants to branch out and discuss licking the lollipop he can PM me, I rather like the idea of the espalier look.

Fantastic Mediterranean vibes poolside. Those pots are fabulous. They won’t be going anywhere in a light breeze. Fairly sure if filled with hot water one could use a single one as a mini spa!

As for those
rofl

You might have mail soon...

That looks lovely mate and the farmer did a good job for you! biggrin

I am going for a dip in mine shortly as one advantage of my tree and foliage hating neighbour is that the courtyard/pool now gets the sun from first thing in the morning!
