That does look very good.

After a very heavy rain / thunder / hailstorm last night, I went into the garden today and was astonished how many "ant hills" had appeared. I guess they needed to burrow out o save their larvae eggs.... I've now doused each one in liquid to see them off.
Rather surprising how many eggs 'floated up' from each nest!

After a few cuts with our new Al-ko mower as recommended by Irish Boy, the grass and mower seem to be in harmony and it now looks like a lawn rather than a large area of grass and dropped clippings as it did with the old Countax
Thanks Irish Boy

Been seeding our large patches. Call me weird but I’m finding the growth fascinating!

About a week since the seed has been put down so quite happy.

Struggling with my lawn this year, lots of moss early on and lots of weed grasses which I’m slowly thinning out. About to overseed in the hope of thickening up the thin bits.

1st cut today since re-turfing the garden on the 29th May.

At point of cutting the grass was some 5-6 inchs long!

Bay tree also had a little trim.

Just need to buy my own lawn mower and a strimmer for the edges.

I haven’t contributed to this thread but thanks to those who’ve previously recommended Lawnsmith and their Shady Green seed coupled with their fertilisers.

Four weeks to the day I’ve gone from this:

To this:

I haven’t cut the lawn for four weeks so it’s still quite lengthy and I’ll have to shorten it in stages.

A slight problem on another lawn.....what’s causing these patches?

That is strong work!

Here's a before and after of ours
Harry - quick one the border bricks around your lawn how were they set? Something you did yourself? I have a similar size garden not a millions miles from you (Clapham) and want to add a similar border to the rear. Thanks, and superb work on all that effort!

Nope! It’s more likely related to something I’ve done!

Did you spill the fertiliser or does you spreader/dropper leave occasional extra drops?

I couldn’t say for sure but think it was fairly even. I’ll dig them out and reseed, the lawns are a work in progress so it’s not spoiling them really. Plenty more to do!

Red thread is present in my lawn. Added a dose of Lawnsmith summer feed in an attempt to grow it out. Otherwise looking pretty good.

Hi all, here’s an after/before picture (after is on top) of my lawn after some Miracle Gro 4 in 1 put down on the 29th April.

Overall I’m happy with the way it’s become greener but I’ve still got a lot of patches which are much shorter than other areas, as well as some large dead patches.

1 day after mowing it looks a mess, because some areas grow much faster than the rest.

I know I’ve got to wait about 8 weeks before I do so, but will overseeding help make the grass more even?

Thanks,

Clarky
Despite the fact that I have rows of thin grass I think it’s looking better. Can you see where the patches were? smile

Overall I’m very happy considering I didn’t do any scarifying or aerating.

Might put down some more fertiliser and looking forward to more rain!

How are people getting rid of these?
