Terrible EA website but bear with for a... Georgian Rectory in Mawgan Creek, Cornwall, on for £1.85m

"Outside: gated entrance and sweeping drive to an integral double garage plus workshop. Additional large workshop and yard secluded in the grounds approached by a side access. Fantastic glasshouse, additional greenhouse, growing beds, fruit cages and orchard."

Hmmm. It looks more like Google's regional office than a home.

Coincidentally, I purchased my current house from a Mrs Lillicrap whose husband passed away a few years ago. I occasionally wonder what are the roots of the name.

There was a children's TV presenter called Christopher Lillicrap in the late 70s/80s. He said in an interview that it was a place name.

Thought 2m was punchy - but seems like it has been thoroughly overhauled.... Big site.
(but amazingly unpersonal imho)

Which bit of that Grade II listed farmhouse was it that had "been sympathetically renovated" ?

I certainly couldn't see it.

Just down the road from me.

If you're going to spend some money around Yarm, I would go for this one personally.

River, mooring, pleasant office at bottom of the garden.

There's a real dearth of top end property on the market up this way at the moment. The £1m+ market is dead so nothing is being put on the market.

Ten points to Mr Apple

This most unusual and interesting surname is locational. It derives from a 'lost' medieval village, which according to the famous Victorian etymologist Canon Charles Bardsley, lay in North West Devon. This may indeed be so as virtually all recordings in early times are found in the area which lies between Dartmoor to the South and Barnstaple in the North of the county. The translation of the name, which is recorded in many different spellings including Lillicrap, Lillecrap, Lillecrop, Lillicrop, Lilleycrop etc. is probably 'the hill-top (crop) covered by lilies'

Polperro is utterly gorgeous. Not exactly a dream location for a petrol-head, as the roads are a bit narrow for a pushbike, nevermind a car.

Fond memories of a dirty weekend away there before we had kids. We still have an oil painting we bought from one of the local galleries on the landing.

Lovely place to visit but for me (seems sacrilege on here) I have no desire to live that close to the elements - there gain i like the grade II listed barn conversion that apparently looks like google offices smile

Funny how they don't mention the public footpath that goes across the bottom of the garden and up the side. Populated by ne'er do wells and their duck-chasing dogs (like me smile ). We actually looked at renting that about 9 years ago, and it was a terrible mish-mash of cottages, with damp everywhere. I'm guessing the damp isn't a problem now, but looks like a footballerists paradise. Given the location, I expect that is exactly their target market.

your private parking space is 300m from the house.

and you cant actually get a car any closer than 100m. that'd make bringing the shopping in a bit of a pain.

This might be photographed well, and there does seem to be a small campsite nearby, so it deserves a proper check. Being next to a river would give concerns about flooding, so that would need checking too. But I still like it:
