Would that meet regs? I was told I had to have a hearth, and its very similar to that except it does go down to floor level.
Looks lovely
Has to be more than 9" above the floor apparently to forgo one (ours is, luckily). It's from these guys http://www.bespokefireplacedesigns.co.uk/Looks lovely

Wot longshot sed. A burner like this gets hot at the front and the top, but not 90% of the sides. Otherwise I wouldn't do it.
The pointing was easy enough - the guy who did it scraped out anything that looked dried out and crumbling. He found some metal fixings, they look like pot hangers, so we asked him to keep them in there. That's how we hang the tools.
I plan to take the plaster off the rest of the wall, I think I should have had it all back to brick originally.

Any work requires building regs approval, document J. There are strict rules on the flue, hearth size and depth, distance from flammables etc. Anything over 5kw needs vents and the vent sizes are ridiculous. More here:

Well I got it done for ~2k so I'd say 5k has a healthy profit in it. Got a cost breakdown? You might want to get the stove yourself from stovesonline.co.uk, they are the cheapest I found anywhere (assuming you want scandinavian, not some a cheap and fugly pot belly).
Couple of words of warning buying online from personal experience.(1) I didn't order from stoves direct -they may be fine, but I ended up having to reclaim costs through my credit card company for a stove that never materialised from another online firm that seemed legit. The wholesale business can be pretty cut throat and things don't always go well. In the end I went to a local shop and bought the actual stove I looked at played around with. Got a decent price too as an ex-demo .
(2) Ordering a stove from an online picture can lead to mistakes. Following on from above, -having seen one I liked I went to look at it in the flesh and realised it just wouldn't look right in the house. Additionally it had a slightly bevelled top meaning a kettle wouldn't sit on it flat. I picked another which fits the style of the house better whilst providing cups of tea and casseroles!
-Not saying there aren't great deals out there, (and my instinct is to always get lowest price on internet), but going local and seeing the stove in the flesh was the right thing to do for us.
