Is that unit the Ikea one? just about to order the same thing myself - I assume that the small black box under the TV you have is an IR extender so that you can control the devices within the unit? If so which one did you go for and does it work well?

And to get the HDMI from the devices in the unit to the TV, how did you do it - single cables that run from unit up in large trunking within wall and then out behind wall mounted TV? Or did you have HDMI faceplates at each end of trunking with short cables to connect them to each device and then TV?

Yes it is the ikea one, had it for years, it's bloody we'll built/solid, nothing like their cheaper stuff.

Would very strongly reccomend it!

And yes before we plastered we had the hdmi/ power lead and 3 x speaker leads run through the wall and pop out at back of TV.

Works great!

Great, thanks. This is pretty much identical to what we are planning.

Wow, that’s a thread resurrection and a half!

Yes, just a bit, since then we finished it, including landscaping the garden, sold it, bought another house, did that one up, sold it, bought another house, and am doing that one up too.

laugh

Im now in the West country and am starting up a new business based in the land so wont be moving from this one for a while!

To Be fair though, I never really did "conclude" the work on this thread.

So for the sake of completeness here are a few more pics of it finished

Looks good.

Have you got a thread for your new place? I've booked to go down to your part of the world in May, can't wait!

To be honest, no, main reason being we have not started any major works on the house yet, we have put in pathways through the woods, built a garden kitchen (not yet finished), fenced off the garden etc, but the main house works start next year.

I've seen various bits about the new project and it sounds really interesting. Good luck!
