Discussion
I have tried and failed to find what I need on the ususal suspects (Google, eBay, etc) and wonder if such a thing exists in kit-form or if I need commission a builder-type to construct such a thing.
I need a 2m x 3m apex roof to be tiled to match the house. Just that. Supported by 4 or 5 pillars (wooden?) to cover my outdoor cooking area.
I can find all sorts in the guise of "open gazebos" or "spa shelters" but they are all at least 3 x 3m or bigger, or not constructed strongly enough to carry 'proper' roof tiles.
Any suggestions, or do I need to get some deeper pockets?
TIA!

Google 'roof truss manufacturer'.
E-mail a few of them with your requirements (length, width, height, degree of pitch etc).

etc.
Only just noticed you are planning to support your roof using timber posts.
Might be worth having a few calcs done regarding the weight of your proposed roof structure to ensure your posts can safely take it. Think additional potential loadings (wind, snow etc), not just weight. A better bet might be to support the roof using brick piers (brick to match house).

Looking at the spec for the tiles (Marley Regency I think), the supporting structure is going to need to take a good tonne or so of weight! A little unrealistic I think...
Back to the drawing board and maybe a simpler DIY structure with a ply/OSB roof covered with felt tiles but colour matched to the house...
Thanks for the input!

Have you tried a local builder/carpenter ?
However I would of thought that a birdcage steel construction made out of 4 column's on each corner supporting a channel ring beam cleated above it would hold it all up. The steel can be clad and you get the piece of mind over sturdiness.
As was mentioned then either get a set of trusses made to construct the roof shape or have a carpenter cut one for you, and then clad with a undercloaking felt and your roof tiles.

Seemed more relevant to resurrect a previous thread than start a new one...
I have just ordered the timber required to build a 3.6 x 2.4m pergola, plus additional bracing and ply-sheets to clad the roof.
Never having done any roofing before, can I fix felt shingles straight to the ply? Or should I put some form of membrane in between the play and the felt?
All google seems to want me to do is buy more shingles rather than teach me how to do it properly...!
All help much appreciated. I anyone's interested, it is to form a roof over this - http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
The stainless steel flue will be going straight up through the roof, but I assume that a standard decktite sealed to flue & ply will stop any ingress there...?
