So on the end of this is supposed to be a screw thread onto which the head screws. Only the thread done gone snapped orf.

I've no idea how to get that off the wall, or what'll be involved in replacing it. Because I'd like to replace it with something made of metal not plastic.

I'm having a plumber come look at it. But from my description he talking about having tiles off the wall and "it's a big job for a small thing".

So just looking for some sanity check so I don't get ripped off. (never had to employ a plumber before so it's a stab in the dark.)

You might be lucky, shower arms normally screw into a 1/2" brass fitting off a pipe feed. Once he's released the cover plate he (or she) can see what kind of job it will be and if it's all plastic, it can be cut off first without damaging any tiles. At worst, from that photo it's one tile to come off.

Interesting. It's actually a Hydramax. But I think Hydramax is a cheapest bidder component version of aqualisa.

If that's metal. It may be a direct swap out with less "damage" involved. scratchchin

I've used these people before when I needed some replacement parts for an old Mira shower: http://www.showerdoc.com/shower-spares

If you know the make and model of the shower you might be able to order the specific replacement parts.

It's not the parts as such. It's the ability to get it off the wall, and fit the new one, and not make a total hash of it.

It's been a few months and various attempts at twisting, pulling, pushing and twisting, and swearing loudly have all been resisted by it. Even the expanded diagram in the previous link offers no help. It could be a screw thread, or does it just push on? And if it's either of those why does twisting or pulling not work.

Basically it's just going to be easier to pay someone.

Assuming the designs are similar, would this not be a decorative cover?

If you run a knife blade around the silicone / grout edge, would that not come off to reveal the fixing points of the shower arm onto the tiles?

Apologies if I am misunderstanding you.

May have a play at the weekend with that theory.

Actually it does, and PP has told you exactly what to do.

The diagram shows its a decorative cover, once you pop that off you'll see what screws are used on the base uderneath. Order a replacement online and swap out the old one and in the new one and save yourself a plumber call out. You don't even need to turn the water off.

I found this thread, as I too have an Aqualisa shower with the fixed arm that the head snapped off and I am struggling to remove the arm. I have taken out the 4 x screws, but the arms seems reluctant to move, and I wondered if there was something else holding it. I didn't want t pull it and break something. Was there any further information to this thread please?

I assume it unscrews from the copper pipe at that point. Can you get a small mirror behind to have a look?

The shower arm on the Aquiliser should be push fit onto the copper pipe, with an o ring providing the seal.

What a crappy design. Should be 1/2" bsp male off the arm into a backplate elbow.
Retained with an o-ring? So when the outlets calcium up would pressure build until it fires off into ones skull?
Yeesh I sound narcissistic, just really hate 'chromed' plastic items. smile

I know this thread is a few years old. Just... I have what seems the exact same shower arm, with the same problem, which seems to have snapped at same point.

Did you manage to find a replacement and swap it out?

Cheers
