We bought a quite expensive mattress (£1600, that's just the mattress, not the bed too) about 18 months ago, but I've come to the conclusion that it really is just too firm. I wake up aching every morning now, and I just want to change it.
The mattress is in pristine condition, always had a topper, no marks, etc, but of course it is a second-hand mattress. On the one hand, scummy, on the other hand, does anyone get a brand-new mattress when they check into a hotel?
It's a 6ft/superking. Does it have any material value, and if so, what's the best way to sell it? It seems somehow wrong to throw it in the tip!

We have a £1200 mattress on our main bed, which is nice, in fact perfect. Imagine my surprise when recently we bought a new double mattress for our spare room for £175 from Ikea and its as good. The bloody thing came all rolled up and vacuum packed which I would have thought would have wrecked the springs. Not sure how long it will last.
We just bought a Premier Inn mattress. Buy online via a link on their website. They are Hypnos brand and built to order. £530ish delivered. Took around 6 weeks I think.
This was after getting totally confused at the range on offer at the various 'bed' shops. £200, £1,000? Which is comfy? trying one in the shop isn't the same as shagging/sleeping on one. Then I realised, we always liked Premier Inn beds...

So, what to do with the existing one? Worth trying eBay?
There must be some kind of foam topper you can add for £50 to make it feel softer...Plus, it's so deep already that the (good quality) sheets only just stretch over.

+1 for Premier Inn. Bought a Super King size for my existing bed frame, think it was about £650. Very comfy, best I have owned and excellent quality - made by Hypnos a Royal warrant holder. I hired a transit van to pick up a couple of single mattresses from Ikea - I couldn't believe it when the automatic lift came down with two packages the size of rolled up sleeping bags! The would have fitted in the back of the OH's mini.We have just ordered a new mattress from a company my wife uses to supply the hotel she manages (they manufacture them for the hotel trade); I've slept in the hotel quite a few times and always found the beds to be super comfy (it's an expensive "boutique" hotel) - £297 for a king which is a bargain as our current mattress (sealy) cost the same and is pretty poor
To the OP; I'm sure a well worded advert on eBay would generate interest.

My mate phoned Hypnos HQ, asked them which mattress was closest to the Premier Inn one. As they only supplied the Premier Inn one them.
They recommended Hypnos Ortho wool (also available in cashmere). Can get firm or extra firm.
He shopped around and got one for £420 in a double.
Must have been the wool one for that amount. We sell quite a few of the Orthos Cashmere ones - they are firm but they are comfy and the build quality is outstanding. They recommended Hypnos Ortho wool (also available in cashmere). Can get firm or extra firm.

If you do go for one then I would heartly recommend the wool topper too. I think they are £200 from memory but designed for the mattress.

I wanted a premier in mattress, missus said it was too soft and wanted a firm one, guess which one we bought........
Mattresses are like pizzas, you can get them made 50/50.I work in the biggest mattress making area in the Country so just wandered into a factory shop and they made me one to whatever spec I wanted and delivered it.
