Clothing Stain Removal
Discussion
As a single chap I'm not hot on this particular topic.
I have a white t shirt I would like to resurrect, except it's heavily stained. Not sure what the stains are either.
I've tried soaking in hot water with lots of bleach and detergent. Lots of vigorous rubbing. I'm about halfway getting there but think I'm going to pop into Robert Dyas and get something to finish it off.
Any suggestions?

It may be the same as vanish I dont know. A scoop in a bucket or just add to a wash on top of your detergent. Be warned it will pull colours out of darks if your not careful.

Thanks bazza. I've got some other white clothing I could attack so I'll see Dyas has that.
Just spent 20mins with heated partially diluted bleach and an old toothbrush and its done the job nicely.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
I suspect when you go to put it on, it may disintegrate a bit. Just spent 20mins with heated partially diluted bleach and an old toothbrush and its done the job nicely.

Bad news, detergent can actually 'fix' stains rather than removing them, so if it doesn't remove the stain you may be stuck with it.
Try not to let the stain dry out before treatment, not always possible of course. An overnight soak in bicarbonate of soda followed by a conventional wash can be effective, also Vanish etc.
Swarfega is good for oil based inks and paints.
