We have taken possession of the forever (or take forever to get habitable..) home. One of the plus sides is it has a big plot, and close to half an acre of lawn.

We left the little electric mower that could only just cope with the small-semi garden, so now in need of something a bit more appropriate...

A ride on would be ideal, however, 1. we don't have anywhere secure to keep it (at the moment), and, 2. until the flat sells we are very much on a budget.

Will an 18" mower take a lifetime to do 0.5 acre? I'm not too worried about stripes at the moment.

There are some reasonable looking Webb B grade mowers on ebay. I know Hayter and Honda are the ones to have, but budget is very much a consideration at the moment. Second hand fine - if it work and has a bit of life left!

Any recommendations?

I had a very similar scenario when we moved to our current house in Wiltshire. A lot of lawn and we bought an extra third of an acre of field which is also now mown. You'd be all day with a rotary, I know, that's all I had when we arrived, so after one cut I was on eBay and got something similar to this.

Great piece of kit. If you have nowhere to store it, a tarp will suffice. I have fitted a heavy duty motorcycle lock to the concrete floor where mine is stored and that way it is not a simple job to steal.

It may seem an extravagance now, but you'll need one sooner or later!

Good luck with your project.

The plan is we will get a ride on, but we accommodate it at the moment...

Does anyone have any experience of Timperpro products...?
