My CU needs changing and I'm trying to work out which to go with and what order (I won't be changing it myself) Could someone have a quick look at this and advise of any changes they would make

Rcd1, down lights, up sockets, cooker
Rcd2, up lights, down sockets, kitchen/diner lights
RCBO's, utility room, smoke alarms, c/heating, alarm, loft supply

After a quick look online I'm leaning towards a 15way Wylex board unless there is anything better at a similar price range

Cheers

Get your local registered electrician in to advise, as he will be the one fitting it and signing it off.

I'd trust your chosen electricians advice personally. He's got to install it and satisfy himself that it's 100% safe and meets the regs.

Appreciate the input and I will obviously speak with the spark however I would still like to know the ideal setup if you wouldn't mind?

I'd go full RCBO myself; most customers of mine plumb for one after a couple of minutes chat explaining the advantages.

As for brand, go big; I much prefer hagar for several reasons but so long as its that or mk/wylex/crabtree then you should be able to get bits for it in 5-10 years - theres a lot of fly-by-night brands about today and as mix/matching different branded components is a no-no now your board could be scrap in a couple of years if a bit like an rcd fails!

I thought the mounting rails for RCDs RCBOs MCBs or whatever are fitted/chosen to be fitted were universal?

The din rail itself is a standard.

The components different manufacturers make isnt, and due to d!ckheads forcing missmatching stuff together *any* non type approved combinations are technically banned under certain regs but certainally by scheme providers like niceic, which in reality means if its an mk board only mk can go in because only mk can you cover your ass and prove its safe/approved.

I'm not the one having a consumer unit changed so why direct that at me? And yes. I saw the wink.
