Living/dining refurb quote - opinions

Hi all,

We are looking at getting out living room and diner redone (walls and ceilings are a mix of stuck on picture frame things, massive ceiling roses and textured wall paper and have had a quote from a guy who can "do everything" which we have considered to get it done as quickly as possible with minimal disruption. This is the quote below (ignore grammar):

Hi stephen sorry for the delay
To strip walls of picture frames ceiling roses & strip wall paper & dispose of take rads off & remove all skirting boards in living room approx 5m x 3.5m tape all cracks on wall & ceilings pva all walls & ceilings plaster scim all walls & ceilings & supply & fit new skirting boards & re hang rads
Total mats& labour £2000
To strip dining room batten out ceiling fit cellotex insulation & plaster board & scim ceiling pva & plaster scim walls & re fit skirting boards
Total mats& labour £2000
It gives ne great pleasure to forward my quotation to you & in the event of an acceptance every effort will be made to meet with your complete satisfaction

Now to me although there is a lot of work it does seem quite pricey. What do you guys think? Is the price fair and we just want a lot of work done? Previous rooms have just required the ceiling skimming at worst so have been relatively minimal work so this is the first room/s that's a big job.

I have requested another quote for myself to do most of the stripping and to exclude the dining room insulation as no way can afford 4K!

Looks about right to me.

Plastering is probably 6ish days for one man and the ceiling re-battening will take a while.

I'd say it sounds about right.
