What I am looking for is a metal framework that can be hung permanently from a ceiling, onto which lights etc can be hung in varying configurations.

I've tried Google but all I am getting is results to do with suspended ceilings, or else temporary frames which consist of two uprights and a crossbar.

Anybody know of anything that might suit, or maybe some better search terms?

TIA

I'm interested in this since I don't like recessed GU10s (difficult access and mainly too high up and the geometry in a vaulted ceiling)

If you mean as per the pic below, then search for: Track Lighting or High Wire Lighting or Wire lighting

Thanks, sorry, should have been more specific.

What I need is something bigger and rigid such that I could hang the sort of lights that you might find in a disco etc on. Not that this is for a disco, it's actually for a photography studio. I could use a portable gantry system but I don't want floor stands and there would need to be several gantries to give me the flexibility in positioning the lights that I would need.

I think this is the sort of thing you're after.

You can also get wall brackets that pull down and allow for movement. The Ceiling rails can be mounted in configurations to allow lights to be moved in 3 axis if you have the right configuration (Not sure if the gear on Calumet does this).

Smiler.

We do custom designs for a company called Optikinetic. Their truss system is the stuff that stage lights and nightclub lights hang on. (We get involved with trade stands and outdoor stages made out of the same stuff).
