I ordered a 50w LED floodlight from eBay, with the intention of replacing a 500w halogen which lights our driveway up at night. mrsC wasn't keen on reducing the lumen levels outside, and 50w LED seems to approximate to a 500w halogen.

There weren't any dimensions in the listing on eBay. It arrived today and all I can say is, well, Wembley must be missing one of their lighting pylons biggrin It's almost a foot wide and about 8" high. It's hardly going to disappear discreetly into the triangle at the top of the gable on my garage…

Are all 50w LED floods monsters like this? Or can I get one a similar size to a halogen flood?

TIA.

12v ones intended for vehicles might be worth a look if you can get a transformer somewhere. I've got a pair of 20W (4 x Cree 5W LED) ones on my bike that are brighter than my HID headlight, so I'd have thought the bigger offroad/worklights might do the job nicely.

I'd say a 100w is the equivalent of a 500w halogen. We started with 50 now have a 150w at the back of the house as its a big area and most vulnerable. This is fairly small:
