According to the Land Registry the UK's cheapest house last year was 15 HIGH MOOR CRESCENT, LEEDS, LEEDS, WEST YORKSHIRE, LS17 6EE

Doesn't look a bad buy for £190!!!!

Wonder what the story behind that is... Other houses in the same road sold for £180k+

Something is amiss there.

That is positioned in a nice part of Leeds. I would be surprised to see Leeds competing with many of the cheaper cities and towns for the very bottom end prices but this is not even in one of the ghettos. It's a few minutes walk from Street Lane which has upmarket bars and restaurants along it and full of yummy mummies drinking Starbucks mockabokkachinos in their white Range Rovers and Q7s.

Surely just a typo?

£190 instead of £190,000

That's what i thought, but surely the Land Registry would check that before releasing a Press Release with the data in?

Worth printing that and giving it to the nearest Big Issue seller with a quid.

That has disaster written all over it!

"We understand that the property is subject to an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement although no sight of any lease has been made."

"Please note we have had no contact with the tenant and have no other details."

Basically it's occupied and it's likely to be a whole heap of hassle to even access the property. It'll then be fked to the point of requiring a full blown restoration.

" It is believed that the property will have an open market value in the order of £150,000 - £250,000 and prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves in this regard. Prospective purchasers are strongly advised to read the legal pack, as these property particulars are intended as a guide only."

That's more like what you will probably have to pay.
£1 auctions are the same as starting a car auction on Ebay for 99p - gets more bidders interested, fills the auction room with bidders who may buy other properties up for auction, and is basically a "hopes and wishes" auction - people thinking they could get the house for £3, and £30,000 will fix any other issues.

There have been houses "oop north" that have sold for £1 though, as part of regeneration schemes.
