Is it just me? Can't be, can it? The frustration at the ever-lasting wait for the end of frosts and the time when it'll be safe to plant stuff.

It was a nice day here in Glos today so I pottered. Some of the over-wintered stuff is doing well - broccoli, garlic, onions, broad beans, but the peas have been hit hard by frost.

Today I started chitting first early pots for the tubs, and cut some bushes back. The bulbs are breaking through, hinting at a riot of spring-time colour in just a few weeks but I can't wait. I know not to rush stuff, but each year I get to this point and despite knowing winter has a long way to go I can't help wanting to crack on.

Patience is, I suppose, a virtue, but it's hard.

I can't wait either but mainly because it's our first year in our house and the garden needs a lot of work.

On the South Coast snowdrops aren't even showing, some daffs just breaking the soil surface. Cherry plum blossom (always the first by a mile - apart from autumn cherry!) is just beginning to swell. Forecast is very cool/cold with some more frost in the foreseeable outlook.

Meanwhile, in my back garden in Woking...

Pretty much same here, second spring in this house, but last spring was the year lots got planted so not much growth.

Yesterday felt a bit spring like, South facing garden so moved all my pots round the back to get the sun. All the bulbs were a jumble sale Id pulled out of other old tubs and stored in the garage for months, so pretty pleased with whats popped up!

Went to a garden centre yesterday, clearly an odd time for them, Camillias and Red Robbins seemed to be the things to push, that and a lot of roses.

8-P. Are you going to leave those in post or put into the garden? Really satisfying when things start peeping through. I did the same along a sunny wall yesterday.

I've got daffs coming up in clumps through the grass, and hyacinths and other greenery beginning to show. No sign of snowdrops or crocuses yet.

I always feel that once February is gone, we are on our way into spring.

We've got daffodils starting to show through the earth which is encouraging.

Incidentally, it's not just waiting to garden, it's also waiting for the better weather to get the special cars out too.

No they will all stay in the pots, no real idea what half of them are to be honest. I've got a small border I over filled with ransoms too, it's looking good and it's not a sunny area. File is too big I'll post later!

Surprised, it's so different, but then I'm right in the coldest spot recently.

And the outlook remains colder for all...........

I'm right under the full stop after the "Bulg" of Bulgaria. It's a beautiful sunny day, which I've spent jet-washing the patio and garden paths. To be honest, If I was a cat, and someone had cleared a nice channel through the snowdrifts, I wouldn't go and st in the snow either.....
Another 5 cm forecast for Tuesday.

You're all an impatient lot! Here in rural Herefordshire no-one even thinks of doing anything until the following farmer's advice is followed.

1. Remove trousers and undergarments.

2. Place bum on ground due to be planted.

3a. If bum gets frostbite it's still too cold.

3b. If bum feels warms....it's still cold so wait a week.

4. Pull up undergarments and trousers and go for a cider.

Personally I'd wait until March before even contemplating planting any seeds outside in the UK.

Mind you ther's plenty to do in the greenhouse!!

This is exactly the problem. Knowing it doesn't make it any easier to bear though!

Might have to rethink my plants and vegetables as it doesnt have much of a sunny spot. It was all a rush this house buying that I forgot to take into account the sun aspect. It'll be grown in pots for now as the garden is currently a tip with a mountain of top soil to discard. Don't know how longs it's been there and am sure the neighbourhood cat have been hiding their business there so doubt it'll suitable for re-use.

Not so fast, still have some summer to enjoy.

Holiday in NZ today, supposed to be 30 this afternoon.

Swimming pool and barbecue are beckoning.

Garden would be in a sorry state if it wasn't for the irrigation - rain is but a distant memory.

South Island.
