Hi got relatives looking to move to these areas and they're proper cash buyers. They haven't moved in 50 years so don't know if you're buying a house that looks superficially in decent knick whether to have a survey or not - I haven't a clue as I've always had to have surveys for mortgages.

If a surveyor is needed can anyone recommend one -or places to find them - is RICS the place?

Thanks

Coxey

And the rest as pretty much any survey says
'Get an electrician to check electrics/wiring'
'Get a damp proof firm to check for damp'
'Get a structural firm to look for structural issues'
'We don't really cover anything we can't see without moving something'
'We don't move anything to see something'
You could go on with the list of 'get out clauses' that surveyors use on the half dozen surveys I have ever seen.
A proper local builder will probably give you a good/better idea and be cheaper in the long run.
Anyway back to your typical survey report.
'Get roofer in to look at the roof'
'Get a rot specialist in to look at the wood'
'Get a drains firm in to look at the drain'

Probably not helpful but a heads up for the people who haven't had the joy of a survey in 50 years.
