We are looking at a driveway however we have a 10ftx15ft area that is approx 9ft deep.

A lot of earth to shift. Also our drains run through this area along with mains gas.

It’s close to not too close to out 1930’s house so structural calculations are required and are underway but don’t think that’s going to be the issue, rather the cost of shifting the earth and drainage etc....

Has anyone had such a driveway built? Any pointers or used anyone you could recommend in the north west?

The garden is set approx 9ft above the road/pavement so would have to be dug down in parts to that depth or more for footings.

you look to have 45 square meters of earth to shift, 1.5 ton a cubic meter so 67.5 ton of stuff
i get a 20 ton lorry to take away spoil for £120 but that involves phoning through the list of hauliers to find someone who is needing material to fill a hole such as motorway works which makes it cheaper as they probably charge the recipient to fill said hole
a digger and driver is around £250- £300 a day, you would need 5 or ten ton machine to get enough boom length to load lorries, digger specs are easy to find online from national hire companies if you google, you only get 30 minutes often to load lorries as they are on a clock with charges for waiting time over the normal load time, thats Edinburgh price , maybe different where you are..
I would be looking for a good self drive digger man , maybe gumtree or local ads who is used to such work and can coordinate piling up earth daily then loading into a lorry at day end or next morning, maybe a lorry a day for three days should be ample, so £120-£200 haulier, £250-£350 day digger and driver and three days to do,
£1500 approx....
