Thinking of replacing my kitchen, and quite like the idea of a blue one, a darker one rather than a buck egg variation.

Has anybody got one that could show me some pics?

Also, are there any recommended supplier/installers? Any bad experiences?

Thanks smile

I'd be a bit wary of a full-on dark/navy blue kitchen. Very on trend at the moment, much like fitting an avocado bathroom suite in 1978...

Absolutely, I think they can look great. I think if I were doing mine, and was planning on that house being a keeper, then I'd look at being bold with an island (if the layout suits) colour and keep the other units a more subtle finish.

I must admit, I’d be looking at something with plain doors, so that they could be wrapped easily.

I do have a habit of cottoning on to fashion, just as it’s going out... biggrin

The thing is, I have solid oak doors at the moment, it’ll need to be something quite brave in style to make me change.

F&B Hague Blue was the height of kitchen fashion about two years ago but now it's been adopted by the mainstream it's probably a bit "5 minutes ago". Charcoal or black is the new (Hague) Blue.

We have gone for two colours. Very pleased with it. Stiffkey Blue is the specific colour.

We chose cornflower blue.

As the bloke in the kitchen shop said you can always paint it if you don't like it.

My advice is go for one you like, don't try second guess the next big thing, or buy because on trend. (Unless you're doing up a place to sell)

We finished this a couple of weeks ago, couple of rooms knocked together, knocked out the back wall of the house, kitchen moved around etc. Love it.

I've just done exactly that in our second home, rest of the units will be white but gone for a dark blue on the island. Colour is Dulux Oxford Blue which is normally one of their Weathershield colours but you can get it in other finishes as well - I used eggshell.

This is one we did recently, it looks even better in reality than it does in the images, the split colour scheme was the customers idea but I think it works.

More of a turquoise blue - DIY Kitchens once again. "Petrol Blue" I think they call it.

So is slab unit design in white gloss out of fashion now?

White kitchens have never been out of fashion. It's the one constant while the trends come and go. Depends whether you like to play it safe or change up every few years.

Blue kitchens look lovely, but it's not a long-term choice.
